ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK
MAY 20, 1993, IN THE SENIOR CENTER, TOWN CENTER

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Wassman at 8:00 PM. He
welcomed James Fleming, a local architect, as an alternate member. Mr.
Wassman read Mr. Fleming's letter of appointment and the new local law
permitting an alternate for the Architectural Board of Review. Mr.
Fleming will attend all meetings and vote when there are less than six
members present.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approval of the minutes of February 18, 1993 and March 18, 1993 was waived
as all of the proper people were not present.
METROPOLIS WESTCHESTER LANES - 2444 Boston Post Road - Block 503 Lot 137
Sign and banner application
Laura Kowalski of Andrew Fredman Associates appeared. She explained the
concept of the banners but did not supply details of color, size, types of
material, method of attachment, etc. Also, information was lacking
concerning similarities to and differences between individual store's
banners. Ms. Kowalski did explain the pylon sign and requested a sign
advertising the available space.
On motion of Mr. Wassman, seconded by Mr. Immerman, that portion of the
application concerning banners was adjourned to the next meeting by 4-0-1,
Mrs. Williams abstaining.
On motion of Mr. Wassman, seconded by Mr. Heisel, the Board unanimously
approved the pylon sign for Metropolitan Westchester Lanes.
The sign will be 7'6" x 15.0' with a grid of 2'6" squares. The
signage will be limited to 25 square feet for each side.
On motion of Mr. Wassman, seconded by Mr. Heisel, the Board unanimously
approved a 14' x 33' wood sign for 6 months for the facade with a white
ground and black Helvitica letters.

New Sign Application
Robert Sullivan, attorney and Vice-President of First National Stores,
appeared.
Mr. Wassman explained that, with the lack of a quorum in April, it had
been necessary for him to meet with Mr. Sullivan and to forward his
comments and the request for a temporary sign to the Town Board at the
time of the store's name change.
This application is for a long-term temporary sign. White channel
lettering will be placed on the red facade/awning on two signs 15'9" x 3' .
On motion of Mr. Wassman, seconded by Mr. Heisel, the Board unanimously
approved, for 12 - 14 months, two facade signs 15'9" by 3" with white
channel lettering on a red background.
CITIPARK SERVICE STATION, INC. - 613 Fifth Avenue (2 Valley Place) -
Block 131 Lot 1 - Dumpster enclosure
Thomas Gubin, president appeared. He explained his plans for a dumpster
enclosure at the corporate-vehicle, servicing facility.
On motion of Mr. Immerman, seconded by Mr. Heisel, the Board unanimously
approved a dumpster enclosure constructed of green gauge (chain link) with
green plastic slats.
DISCUSSION
The Board was concerned that a small American Express sign has been added
to the pylon sign at Tung Hoy restaurant on the Post Road and asked that
the dead rhododendrons be replaced at the Lexus dealership on the Post
Road.
ADJOURNMENT
On motion of Mrs. Williams, seconded by Mr. Fleming, the meeting was
adjourned at 9:27 PM.
