HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992_03_19 Board of Architectural Review Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK MARCH 19, 1992, IN THE SENIOR CENTER, TOWN CENTER 740 WEST BOSTON POST ROAD MAMARONECK, NEW YORK Present: E. Robert Wassman, Chairman Pamela Washington Robert Immerman Absent: Ralph Heisel Joan Williams Also present: William E. Jakubowski, Building Inspector Richard Metzner, CZMC Bonnie M. Burdick, Recording Secretary CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairman Wassman at 8: 15 PM. He explained that a unanimous vote of the three members present was necessary to approve an action and that the applicant could put over the application. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On motion of Mr. Immerman, seconded by Mrs. Washington, the minutes of the meeting of February 20, 1992 were approved as corrected. GETTY PETROLEUM COMPANY - 2385 Boston Post Road Block 505 Lot 415 Sign Application Conrad Decker and R.J. Snyder of Decker and Company, consultants to Getty, appeared. Mr. Decker presented a drawing of the new Getty signs which represented a changed logo. Mr. Decker agreed that the height of the pole sign will be 15 feet and to the use of only one cannister sign. Mr. Wassman declared that this application is a Type II action and that the Planning Board is the Lead Agency. On motion on Mr. Immerman, seconded by Mrs. Washington, this Board approved unanimously the installation of three cardinal signs - a pole sign which will be 8 feet 22 inches by 3 feet 7 inches and 15 feet high, a "cannister" sign 2 feet by 4 feet and a fascia sign with lettering 92 inches high by 20 inches long and a yellow stripe below the lettering. INFORMAL DISCUSSION - 2523 Boston Post Road Block 504 Lot 126 John Crouch, architect, and Jonathan Wade, County Automotive owner, appeared. Mr. Crouch told the Board that Saturn Automotive Company proposes taking over the Volkswagon dealership. He wanted input from the members concerning his preliminary drawings and demonstrated pictures of March 19, 1992 -2- another Saturn dealership. The colors used would be two shades of gray, white and red. The members stated that they were interested in the entire site, the lighting plan including lumens, the exact boundary lines, parking spaces, and plentiful landscaping with specific species delineated. Mrs. Washington requested photographs. OLD BUSINESS Mr. Jakubowski requested the members to examine the Lexus site. Mrs. Washington reported that 77 trees have been planted there.
