CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Wassman at 8:09 PM.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The approval of the minutes of the meeting of December 19, 1992 was put
over as the wrong quorum was present.
YUAN SING INC. - Sign Approval
1260 Boston Post Road
Block 407 Lot 192
Ron Linsalato, of Signs Plus, represented the applicant. The plans call
for the existing light box to be used with a 12 foot sign. Solid black
letters will be used against a white background. The pole sign will be
comparable to the others in the Village Square shopping center sign near
the sidewalk.
Mr. Wassman declared that the BAR. was the Lead Agency and that this
matter was a Type II Action.
On motion of Mrs. Williams, seconded by Mrs. Washington, the BAR approved
the installation of a 12-foot, white sign with black lettering above the
store and a brown sign with white letters for the pole sign at the edge
of the Village Square Shopping Center.
NAUTILUS DINER - Sign Application
(formerly Postway Diner)
1240 Boston Post Road
Block 408 Lot 110
Nick and Michael DiGiacomo, Neptune Signs, appeared as well as Kostos
Efstathiou, the proposed owner.
The Board requested that the proposed sign on the roof be changed from
red to a medium blue. It also requested that only two typefaces be used
on the pole sign as is required in the BAR law. One style represents the
Nautilus logo; the other part of the sign would be in block lettering.

The pole sign would have white lettering on a background of the same
color of medium blue. Mr. Efstathiou agreed to the colors, to the style
of lettering and to eliminate some of the wording. The pole sign will
read "Nautilus Diner, Restaurant, Open 24 Hours".
Mr. Efstathiou also wanted to install a flag pole. Mr. Jakubowski noted
that displaying the flag is an American right. He stated that the plans
for a 50-foot pole seemed large and suggested a 30-foot pole carrying a 5
foot by 7 foot flag. Mr. Efstathiou agreed.
The Board also expressed an interest in the landscaping, but no
commitment was made.
On motion of Mrs. Washington, seconded by Mrs. Williams, in the matter of
the Nautilus Diner, the BAR approved a medium blue replacement roof sign
reading "Nautilus Diner", a white pole sign with medium blue letters
reading "Nautilus Diner, Restaurant, Open 24 Hours," and a 30-foot
flagpole.
NATHANS - Temporary Sign Approval
1265 Boston Post Road
Block 412 Lot 449
Mr. Jakubowski presented plans for special banners for Nathans which had
been referred to this Board by the Town Board. Nathans, by its Manager
Cliff Harrison, had requested anniversary signs 4 feet high, 16 feet high
of yellow with red letters. The Town Board found these signs garish.
The BAR approved signs 3 feet by 16 feet of green with either yellow or
wheat lettering for two locations for 15 days. Mr. Wassman will write a
memo to the Town Board regarding this decision.
ADJOURNMENT
On motion of Mrs. Washington, seconded by Mrs. Williams, the meeting was
adjourned at 9:19 PM.
