HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993_08_19 Board of Architectural Review Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK AUGUST 19, 1993, IN THE SENIOR CENTER, TOWN CENTER 740 WEST BOSTON POST ROAD MAMARONECK, NEW YORK Present: Robert 'merman James Fleming Ralph Heisel Pamela Washington Joan Williams Absent: E. Robert Wassman, Chairman Also present: Michelle Bonsteel, Assistant Building Inspector CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Washington at 8:05 PM. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On motion of Mr. Immerman, seconded by Mr. Fleming, the Board voted unanimously to approve the amended minutes. PALISADES FUEL GAS STATION (Formerly Northville) - 2517 Boston Post Road - Block 504 Lot 101 - Signs No one appeared for this application so it was adjourned. SATURN USED CARS - 2523 Boston Post Road - Block 504 Lot 126 - Signs John Crouch, architect, appeared. He apologized that what was built was not that which was approved. He presented pictures and new elevation drawings. Mr. Immerman found that the small building becomes a monument sign in and of itself which pleased him. Others disliked the scale and characteristics of the letters. Mr. Crouch stated that he is working with the owner of the gas station to improve the area between the two properties. On motion of Mr. Immerman, seconded by Mr Heisel, the Board approved the Saturn signs as built, by a vote of 3 to 2, Mr. Heisel and Mrs. Williams opposed. METROPOLIS WESTCHESTE LANES - 2444 Boston Post Road - Block 503 Lot 137 - Satellites Andy Fredman, architect appeared. He stated that Staples and CVS wish to install satellite dishes to assist with store-to-store communication. Board of Architectural Review August 19, 1993 -2- The dishes would be 4 feet to 6 feet in diameter and placed on the roof. On motion of Mr. Heisel, seconded by Mr. Fleming, the Board voted unanimously to approve the installation of two satellite dishes. Mr. Fredman presented awning samples and paint chips. It was felt that these colors were too different. Mrs. Washington suggested that Mr. Fredman submit many samples to the Building Department so that they could be examined in natural light. Mr. Fredman stated that the planters will have rounded sides and will be a natural buff color. TOWN OF MAMARONECK - 685 Weaver Street - Block 103 Lot 5 - Pavilion Stephen V. Altieri appeared for the Town. He stated that the Town's Day Care Center had a rotten garage which was demolished. A covered pavilion for rainy day play was installed. BECK Builders built the structure; a subcontractor did the concrete. The Board felt that the structure was unaesthetic and had no relationship to the house. On motion of Mrs. Washington, seconded by Mr. Heisel, the Board requested a formal application for the pavilion at the Day Care Center. Mrs. Washington reminded Mr. Altieri that this Board would need to review the plans for the Firehouse. NEXT MEETING With the conflict of Rosh Hashanah, it was decided to meet September 23, 1993. ADJOURNMENT On motion of Mrs. Williams, seconded by Mr. Heisel, the meeting was adjourned at 9:20 PM.
