Burdick Recording Secretary CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Imnerman at 8:07 PM. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The proper quorum was not present for approval of the minutes of the March BAR meeting. Mr. 'merman vigorously expressed great concern that certain applicants have not adhered to the plans approved by the Board of Architectural Review and that the Building Department and the Town administration have not stopped the building process and enforced the Board's decisions. He referred in particular to the change to the facade, corners of the building and signs at the Larchmont Diner; and, Mr. "merman complained about a difference to a window approval at the Clocktower Building. Mrs. Washington agreed with Mr. 'merman's strongly-made statement. DOCS - 1380 Boston Post Road - Lot 409 Lot 192 - Revised landscaping plan. Ada Ferguson, Environmental Facilities Coordinator, appeared with Dennis Minelli, landscape contractor. The company is resurfacing the blacktop, adding handicapped parking spaces, striping the parking lot and putting directional indications for packers. There will be no parking right at the front entrance to the building. The landscaping is as the BAR had requested with additional shrubs being planted. Mrs. Washington complimented the applicant on this most recent plan and told the applicant to consult with the Building Inspector concerning fire lanes. A rendering was used to describe the desired changes. (Said drawing was not submitted prior to the meeting or at its conclusion.) The members were in agreement with the plans as shown on the rendering with the exclusion of the roof-like extrusion and "door" on the curved corner at its Alden Road - Post Road end. They agreed to a different placement than submitted for sign approval and okayed light fixtures without seeing an example. The door will also be different than shown on the plans submitted to the Board. It will have less glass for safety purposes The Board requested that trees be planted and suggested espaliered trees or shrubs against the eastern part of the facade. On behalf of the corporation, Mr. Fleming agreed to this landscaping. The signs were changed during the meeting. Mr. Fleming and Mr. Caldararo were told to check the allowances permitted under the sign law with the Building Inspector. Mr. Caldararo stated that the signage represented had a typo as there is no apostrophe in the name of the restaurant. On motion of Mr. Jacobson, seconded by Mrs. Washington, the following resolution was unanimously approved, 3-0. WIGS, John Caldararo d/b/a J.B. Tiptons has submitted an application to the Building Inspector, together with plans, for the facade and signs for a proposed restaurant on the premises located at 11 Alden Road (1420 Boston Post Road) and known on the Tax Assessment Map of the Town of Mamaroneck as Block 409 Lot 131; and WHEREAS, the Building Inspector has declined to issue such permit on the grounds that review by the Board of Architectural Review is required; and WIGS, Mr. Caldararo submitted an application for approval to the Board; and WHEREAS, this Board has examined the plans, inspected the site, reviewed the application and has heard all persons interested in this application; NOW, TORE BE IT RESOLVED, that an application for facade changes and sign installation located at 11 Alden Road (1420 Boston Post Road) , said premises being known and designated on the Tax Assessment Map of the Town of Mamaroneck as Block 409 Lot 137, be and the same is granted, subject to the following conditions. 1. The pediment canopy will be removed. 2. Vertical vinyl siding above the windows will be continuous from the first brick pier at Alden Road to the next to last brick pier which is before the service bay. Board of Architectural Review April 20, 1995 -4- 3. The door may be a single door. The adjacent pier and canopy shall span from window jamb to window jamb. 4. The sign on the Alden Road side of the building shall be consistent in height with the one on the Boston Post Road side and all shall conform within the limits of the sign code. 5. The color of the graphics on the canopy shall be consistent with the primary signs. 6. The brick of the lower section of the building's garage, which is one-story in height, shall be painted white to match the restaurant facade. The garage doors shall be painted to relate to the color of the apartment house doors. 7. The light fixtures shall be consistent with the architects's drawing. 8. The asphaltic paving at the east end of the Post Road facade shall be replaced with a planting bed with espaliered plants against the vinyl siding. Ground cover shall be planted there, too. 9. Three Zelkova street-trees at the eastern end of the Boston Post Road facade. ADJOURNMENT On motion of Mrs. Washington, seconded by Mr. Jacobson, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 9:20 PM.
