Present: Edward Jacobson, Andrew Fredman, Diane Neff, Donald Meeker, Also Present Ernest Odierna, Liaison). Absent/Excused: Ken Ricci. Francine Brill Recording Secretary 3.. Stop & Shop 1326 Boston Post Road Sign Permit Mr. Jacobson suggested the applicant go to ZBA for illuminated sign variance. The BAR would like it and would send a letter of support of the Variance. Brian O’Conner of Frohling Sign Company the applicant’s representative addressed the Board stated that the applicant would prefer illuminated signs but showed gooseneck lighting as a fall back plan. Mr. Fredman stated that he thought the sign would look better with a strip light. Might be slim chance to go before ZBA but BAR would endorse. Mr. Odierna questioned if the sign meets the size requirements. Mr. O’Conner answered yes the new sign is smaller than existing sign at 70 sq. feet. Mr. Jacobson suggested instead of from above the sign could be lit from below, hopefully temporary. Mr. Fredman stated on one side horizontal lighting will look good but not on the other side. Mr. O’Conner asked for an approval so they don’t have to come back to the BAR while going to ZBA for a variance. Ms. Neff asked how far from the building the lettering would be, Mr. O’Conner responded 5 inches, and that the applicant would prefer goose neck lights. Mr. Fredman and Mr. Jacobson stated that they don’t like the goose neck lights but would approve the color, size and lettering and will write letter saying such to the ZBA. The Board suggested that the applicant bring a sample of the Led lighting to ZBA when going for the variance. This is a greener approach. Mr. Jacobson stated that he is not in favor of sign as presented that he feels it should be more discreet. Mr. Fredman stated the sign could be reduced, color contrast too much. Mr. Frederick stated the building will be used for storage and office space. Ms. Neff stated the sign could be centered over door in order to decrease size and the colors could be reversed.
