HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010_01_21 Board of Architectural Review Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK JANUARY 21, 2010 IN THE COURT ROOM, TOWN CENTER 740 WEST BOSTON POST ROAD, MAMARONECK, NEW YORK Present: Edward Z. Jacobson, Chairman Andrew D. Fredman Donald Meeker Ken Ricci Diane Neff Also Present: Ronald Carpaneto, Building Inspector Ernest Odierna, Liaison CALL TO ORDER Chairman Jacobson called the meeting to order at 8:00 PM. Chairman Jackson officially welcomed Mr. Odierna as the new liaison from the Board of Trustees. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Review and approval of the minutes was postponed. 2. 1380 Boston Post Road John Knoetgen applicant’s architect appeared and addressed the Board. Mr. Knoetgen stated that the last time he was before the Board certain changes were requested. He gave the Board a plan showing the changes. The Board discussed the light fixtures that were presented at the previous meeting. The current landscaping plan provides for three trees to be planted as per the Planning Boards request in order to comply with Town code. The plan is to screen everything but the building. On motion of Mr. Fredman the Board unanimously approved 1380 Boston Post Road Site plan dated January 14, 2010 with the following suggestions. 1. a bike rack added as discussed painted the color of the canopy. 2. the plants suggested by the Board added. 3. The right side of the building window wall moved back 8 inches. 808 Weaver Street Bonnie Briar Country Club Site Improvement Larry Gordon, Gordon& Yestadt Architects appeared and addressed the Board. Mr. Gordon stated that they plan to renovate and expand the existing bar area. The Board discussed the plans. The Board unanimously approved the plan dated 1/8/10 as presented. Mr. Burke the general manager of the Golf Course gave an off the record presentation for a future project to construct an electric golf car storage facility, which may not be visible from Weaver. Mr. Burkes also stated that he is going before the Planning Board 2/10 for consideration. The height of the building is 14 feet 9 inches lower than the maintenance building. The board stated that the previously approved maintenance building was approved with the proviso that the Club plant trees so it would not be visible from Weaver Street, and it is still visible. Mr. Burke stated that this is the third year and the trees should grow dramatically, Mr. Burke offered to plant more spruce trees. OLD BUSINESS The Board discussed Nordone and Sons 2430 Boston Post Road and the paper street next to it that has become a dumping ground. Mr. Fredman stated that he will refuse to hear and vote on any matter that he has not had a week to review. The BAR should have had the courtesy to make a comment on the fence at Bonnie Briar as it is an enormous presence. It was stated that at the December meeting the Le Blanc building was given 90 days to leave the temporary sign in the front of the building while coming up with a more permanent solution. Ink it up has not responded to the Boards request and a violation notice was sent December 8, 2009. ADJOURNMENT On motion made by Mr. Fredman the meeting was adjourned.
