APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Review and approval of the minutes was postponed.
1. Nautilus Diner
Michael DiGiacomo, of Neptune Signs and Awnings, Inc. appeared and addressed the Board.
Mr. Jacobson, stated that he was disappointed in the sign application being presented. The
Board liked the sign concept that was Mr. Meeker’s recommendation on the original plan.
Mr. Di Giacomo stated that the diner’s owner was tired and wanted an end to the project and
that he just wanted to finish construction and be done with it. The other sign would require a
variance.
Mr. Jacobson asked what this sign was made out of and whether or not it was illuminated.
Mr. Di Giacomo stated that the sign will be of the same color and material as the mansard roof,
and will not be illuminated, if in the future the owner wants to use flood lights to illuminate the
sign he will come back before the Board for approval.
Mr. Fredman stated that the applicant should have submitted a complete landscaping plan as
part of the submission, so they could see the sign in relationship to the plantings, because the
placement of this monument sign interferes with the proposed landscaping.
The Board discussed the sign and on a motion duly made the sign was approved.
The Board asked for a revised landscape planting plan and Site Plan, to be submitted, showing
where the sign will be placed in the plantings.
Addressing the next applicant, Mr. Jacobson asked that all three applications for 1415 Boston
Post Road be handled together.
2. & 3. LeBlanc Orthodontics 1415 Boston Post Road Sign Permit
Michael DiGiacomo, of Neptune Signs and Awnings, Inc. appeared and addressed the Board.
Mr. Fredman asked Mr. Carpaneto to explain the sign code regarding how many signs can be
placed on one building.
Mr. Carpaneto stated that no one building shall exceed two signs.
Mr. Di Giacomo stated that the building has never had a sign and the owner wants his building
to be identified.
Mr. Jacobson stated that the Board would like the building identified, with the directory inside
the building.
Ms. Neff stated the building is modern and needs a sign to reflect that.
Mr. Jacobson stated that they would like the whole building to be handled as one application
and would like a planting plan submitted as well.
Mr. DiGiacomo, stated that Mr. LeBlanc the owner, did not want a boxey sign; and the
prospective applicant wants to be able to put a sign on the building.
The Board requested the applicant bring a site plan with the building elevation, a landscape plan
and the sign placement shown on the plans to a future meeting.
The matter was adjourned.
