HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008_09_18 Board of Architectural Review Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK SEPTEMBER 18, 2008, IN THE SENIOR CENTER, TOWN CENTER 740 WEST BOSTON POST ROAD, MAMARONECK, NEW YORK Present: Edward Z. Jacobson, Chairman Andrew D. Fredman Donald Meeker Kenneth Ricci Also present: Nancy Seligson, Liason Francine M. Brill, Recording Secretary Absent: Ronald A. Carpaneto, Director of Building Chairman Jacobson called the meeting to order at 8:00PM. Chairman Jacobson read the application as follows. Ink it up LTD. 2423 Boston Post Road Sign Permit The applicant did not appear. The Board discussed the application and asked that the applicant be asked to return with a plan for the awning. T D Bank 1289 Boston Post Road Sign Permit Craig Tompkins of Bohler Engineering, P.C. appeared and addressed the Board. Mr. Tompkins stated that Commerce Bank has been taken over by TD Bank Toronto Dominion, with the change over scheduled for November 1, 2008. The signage will be replaced in kind, non illuminated, the material will be channel letters and the reveal will be similar to the old no more than 2 inches off face. On motion of Mr. Fredman, seconded by Mr. Meeker the application was approved as submitted 4-0. 2434 Boston Post Road Car Wash Façade, Site Improvement Pellegrino Orsino, the applicants architect appeared and addressed the Board. Mr. Orsino brought colors and style of the building surface. The site plan was discussed; There will be a 4 ft. over hang on the front of the building, a rear canopy, the concrete will have a rough surface and a French drain will separate the car wash property from the pedestrian side walk on Boston Post Road. The blocks will be 8X16 iris blue, the accent color soft grey on the tower above and below the windows. The Board suggested: 1. Darker anodized aluminum mullions 2. A taller tower, increased in height by 2 ½ feet with the signage sitting on the central horizontal vane. The applicant agreed to the suggestions. On motion of Mr. Fredman, seconded by Mr. Meeker the building Plan was Approved as modified 4-0 Signs: Tower sign 1. The Larchmont car wash sign should have the letters the same size preferably 16 inches. 2. The Board recommended that the type face or font should be all lower case letters. 3. Letters should have one color on face and reveal. 4. Stem lights fixtures should become part of the design to enhance the tower, coming out of the upper band shining back to the letters and tower. 5. Letters should be flush mounted or no more than ¼ inch pin mounted from the building. 6. More lights should be added to illuminate the curve of the tower. Directional signs The board saw no need for directional signs The Board adjourned the Signage plan until the applicant returns with a new plan. Lights 1. 30 inch high lights behind the curbing on the right side drive in entrance. 2. Lights under the awning 6” recessed lighting. Landscaping Plan As shown on plan S1 1. the right side curbing to remain, 2. new rear curbing will define the seasonal flower bed around the turn. 3. Street side flower box will have low plants On motion of Mr. Fredman, seconded by Mr. Ricci the site plan was approved as submitted. MINUTES No minutes were discussed. OLD BUSINESS The Board asked Nancy Seligson, Liason about the status of the Parking deck on Myrtle Bld. Ms. Seligson stated that she believes there is a memo from Steve Altieri, she will look into the matter. The Board stated that they never approved the design, and that product samples should be provided. The Board would like to see the final plans. NEXT MEETING The next meeting of the Board of Architectural Review will be held on October 16, 2008. Upon a motion duly made and seconded, the meeting was unanimously adjourned. Francine M.
