CHASE BANK –Sign
Margaret Miller appeared and addressed the Board.
The Board reviewed the application and had the following comments and concerns.
1. Junipers should be added to the area in front of the Do Not Enter sign.
2. The Board felt the signs should be better laid out with respect to the
following:
a) line spaces should be opened
b) the letter space should be opened
c) the open areas of the sign (around the edge) should be even
around the signs
d) the Applicant should rethink the height of the signs for visibility
purposes.
3. the Board felt that this is an important parcel on Boston Post Road and
that the landscaping was weak and in disorder. The Board felt the
applicant should improve the landscaping at the site. A plan should be
submitted by a Landscape Architect to address the issue.
The Board made the sign approval contingent upon the approval of the landscape plan.
The Board will accept revised plans to be submitted to the Building Department and then
distributed to the board for review.
MECEDES BENZ
Mr. James Sullivan addressed the Board and explained the application. He stated that the
sign proposal submitted to the Board is the new corporate standard for Mercedes free
standing signs. Mr. Sullivan stated the reason for the sign was that the business is difficult
to see regardless of which way one would approach the site on Boston Post Road.
The Board reviewed the application and had the following comments and concerns.
1) The Board felt that the sign would do little good as proposed.
2) The Board thought the sign should be higher than what was submitted
so the sign can be better seen from Boston Post Road.
3) The Board had concerns as to the method of lighting the sign and
stated external illumination is permitted by the Code.
The Board adjourned the application to the next meeting June 21, 2007.
