HomeMy WebLinkAbout1921_06_15 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Town Board TOWN OF MAMARONECK, held, June 15th, 1921. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 9. 30 P.M. PRESENT: Supervisor Burton, Justices Boyd and Shafer; Deputy Clerk Sherman. Upon motion it was voted to dispense with the reading of minutes of meetings not yet approved. The report of the Receiver of Taxes for the month of May 1921, was received, read ordered placed on file and is as follows; June 1st. 1921. Dear Sir: I herewith report the amount of fees collected in the office of the Town Clerk for the month of May, 1921 as follows: Dog licenses issued 4 $1.00 Lost tags " 2 .50 Hunting " " 1 .25 Marriage " " 6 6.00 Chattels filed 35 4 .20 Total amount of fees $11.95 Check covering amount made to order of Supervisor. The Police report for the month of May, 1921 was received and read, showing 27 arrests and total fines amounting to $525.00 was ordered received, noted in the minutes and placed on file. A communication was received from the Larchmont Gardens Association requesting the installation of additional fire hydrants at the intersection of Cherry Street and Garden Road and at the intersection of Hillside and Briarcliff Roads. The communication was ordered received and placed on file and the matter was referred to the Supt. of Highways. The Clerk presented the policy for the renewal of insurance of equipment in the Town offices. Same was referred to the Supervisor with power to place insurance. A communication from the Chatsworth Fire Company requesting the replacement of old hose was received and read and after due consideration it was RESOLVED, that the request for the re- placement of hose by the Chatsworth Fire Company be granted and that the Super- visor be authorized and empowered to pur- chase same in the amount of 250 feet, same to be madea proper town charge. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, same was upon ROLL CALL, unanimously adopted. The Supervisor presented a communication from the State Commission of Prisons in relation tothe Town lock-up. Same was ordered received, read and placed on file. A communication from the Sewer Commissioners of District #1, Town of Mamaroneck, was received read ordered spread upon the minutes and is as follows: June 15th, 1921. Hon. Town Board Town of Mamaroneck, Gentlemen: The Sewer Commission of District #1 of the Town - of Mamaroneck, hereby makes formal application for the issue and sale of Fifty Thousand dollars in bonds chargeable against the sewer district; the proceeds of said issue to be used for the purchase of real estate required for sewer purposes, for engineer- ing and other purposes in connection with the sewer disposal plant and sewer system. Respectfully submitted, The Sewer Commission, by Robert Stevens H.R. Mitchell William I. Palmer Upon motion, duly seconded it was RESOLVED, that Counsel together with the Supervisor be authorized and emp- owered to take the necessary steps to carry into effect the request of the Sewer Commission in relation to the sale of bonds. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, same was upon ROLL CALL, unanimously carried. The following communication was also received from the Sewer Commision of Dist #1,Town of Mamaroneck which was ordered received, spread upon the minutes and is as follows: June 15th, 1921. Honorable Town Board, Town of Mamaroneck, N.Y. Gentlemen: The Sewer Commission of District # 1, Town of Mamaroneck, deems it advisable at this time to take up certain options for the purchase of certain parcels of land to be used for the disposal plant site and for rights of way of the sewer system. In order to secure said options the sum of $750.00 will be required. The Sewer Commission hereby makes application to have the said sum of $750.00 set aside from the general fund for the purposes above indicated; said amount shall be refunded upon receipt of the proceeds of the sewer bonds which will be sold shortly. Whereupon the following resolution was offered by Justice Boyd and seconded by Justice Shafer: WHEREAS, The Sewer Commission of District #1, Town of Mamaroneck, has made applica- tion to this Board to set aside the sum of $750.00 for the purpose of securing options upon certain parcels of land to be used for disposal plant site and other purposes; and WHEREAS, the said sum of $750.00 is to be refunded upon receipt of the proceeds of sewer bonds to be hereafter sold; Now Therfore be it Resolved, that the sum of $750.00 be and hereby is set aside from the general fund for the purposes above indicated, and the Supervisor is hereby accordingly authorized and empow- ered to dispurse the same upon the warrants of the Sewer Commission. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, same was upon ROLL CALL, unanimously carried. Mr. Edward Decker of the Town Police was present and requested the purchase of a new motorcycle, stating that the old machine had become very dangerous to operate. It was thereupon Voted, that the Super- visor be and he hereby is authorized and directed to purchase a new motor cycle for the Town police, same to be a charge against the unincorporated part of the Town of Mamaroneck, and it was FURTHER VOTED, that he be empowered to dispose of the old machine, the proceeds of which are to be applied to the purchase of the new machine. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, same was upon ROLL CALL, unanimously carried. Captain Decker reported in relation to the case of the people of the State of New York against Conti and upon his rec- ommendation it was moved by Justice Shafer, seconded by Justice Boyd, Captain Decker be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to employ Special Counsel in the case of the People of the State of New York vs Conti. The question beingg taken upon the foregoing resolution, same was upon ROLL CALL, unanimously carried. The Clerk reported that the flag pole at the Village square needed painting and upon his recommendation it was VOTED, that the pole at the village square be painted and put in good order, same to be made a proper town charge.
