PRESENT: Supervisor Burton , Justices, Boyd, Collin, Dudley and Shafer Deputy Clerk, Sherman. The minutes of the meeting of October 6th, 1920 were read and upon motion approved. The report of the Receiver of Taxes for the month of September, 1920 was received, read, ordered placed on file and is as follows: TOWN OF MAMARONECK October 1st, 1920. Office of Receiver of Taxes . Supervisor. Communications from Attorney Hughes and Justice Shafer in relation to the Richards case with an order of reversal from County Judge Frank L. Young were received, read, orderd filed with the Super- visor. Justice Boyd offered the following resolution seconded by Sustice Dudley. WHEREAS, an order from County Judge Young has been received by the Supervisor, dir- ecting him to pay over to Joseph Richards, Appellant, the sum of $10.00 which is the amount of fine paid in the Justices Court as directed by said County Judges therefore be it, RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and hereby is authorized and empowered to pay John J. Hughes, Esq. Attorney for appellant in such action, of appeal, ie; 10 dollars as directed by Hon. Frank L . Young, in the aforesaid order. The question was taken upon the foregoing resolution which was adopted by the foliowing vote. AYES: Messrs, Burton, Boyd, Collins, Dudley and Shafer and Sherman. Nayes: None. Justice Dudley offered the following resolution and moved its adoption. RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to purchase a new type- writer and desk for use in the Town Clerk's Office and to dis- pose of the old one, the expend- iture not to exceed the sure of $240.00 The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution it was declared adopted by the following vote, Ayes: Messrs, Burton, Boyd, Collins, Dudley, Shafer and Sherman. Nays; None. A communication from the Larchmont Gardens Company, add- ressed to the Receiver of Taxes in relation to erroneous payment of taxes on property known as Section 2, Block 26, lots 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24 was received, read, ordered filed with the Receiver of Taxes. Mr.T.Palmer Howell, Receiver of Taxes reported the corr- ection of dual payment and upon his recommendation that the amount of $11. 55 be refunded to the Larchmont Gardens Company, the following resolution was offered by Justice Collins. WHEREAS, It has been brought to the attention of this Board that School taxes for the year 1920 on Section 2, Block 26, lots 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24, Town map for the Town of . Mamaroneck, were paid on September 30th, 1920 by the Larchmont Gardens Co., evidenced by a receipted tax bill Nos. 3057 & 3058, signed by the Receiver of Taxes, and WHEREAS, Said taxes were subsequent- ly paid by Frank W. Darling on the aforesaid lots, and WHEREAS, The Receiver of Taxes has made an examination of his books and finds that said taxes have been paid on said lots twice; therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to refund to the Larchmont Gardens Co. the amount of taxes, to wit, $ 11.55 paid by said Company for 1920 School taxes on Section 2, Block 26, lots No. 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24, town map for Town of Mamaroneck, paid in duplicate. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Rec- eiver of Taxes be and hereby is auth- orized and directed to mark the afore- said refund on his records accordingly. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, it was declared adopted by the following vote Ayes: Messrs, Burton, Boyd, Coliins, Dudley, Shafer & Sherman, Nays: None. A communication from Mr. Joseph F.Gleason relative to taxes was received and read and upon motion of Justice Boyd same was referred to Counsel. A communication from Major John F. Fairchild relative to the use of the Town Hall was received asking permission to use same for drilling of boys 16 to 18 years inclusive as provided under the Military Training Law. Upon motion of Justice Collins, the communication was re- ceived, filed and referred to the Supervisor with power of granting permission. The Clerk presented a communication from Mr. Michael Doherty in relation to nuisances being committed at the sign board located at Dillon Park. Upon motion of Justice Dudley, the communication was received, ordered placed on file and Mr. Haffen who is the owner of the lot be reauested to have the sign board removed and the Clerk to notify Mr. Doherty of the action of the Board. The Supervisor presented a communication from the Weaver Street Fire Co. and his reply thereto in relation to ordering coal for the Company. Same was ordered received, placed on file with the Sup- ervisor and upon motion of Justice Shafer it was RESOLVED, That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to puchase the coal re- quired for the several Town build- ings. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution it was declared adopted by the following vote. Ayes: Messrs, Burton, Boyd, Collins, Dudley, Shafer and Sherman. Heys; None. Justice Dudley offered the following resolution. BE IT RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to pay the salaries of the Special Constables in semi-monthly installments , to wit , on the 16th day and on the last day of each month, upon the presentation of prop- er vouchers therefore. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, it was declared adopted by the following vote. Ayes: Messrs, Burton, Boyd, Collins, Dudley, Shafer and Sherman. Nays: None. Mr.H.J.Brewer of the Building Corenmiesion was present and stated that the Commission had met and organized, reporting progress. Justice Boyd offered the following resolution. BE IT RESOLVED, that the Building Commision of the Town of Mamaroneck be and it hereby is authorized and empowered to expend a sum of not to exceed $500. for stationary, office supplies, equipment and such other proper expenditures, so as to be enabled to carry out its duties; and be it further RESOLVED, That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to pay upon vouchers of the Building Commission duly presented and audited for the aforesaid expenditures, a sum not exceeding $500. as above pro vided. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, it was declared adopted by the following vote. AYES: Messrs, Burton, Boyd, Collins, Dudley Shafer & Sherman. NAYS: None. On motion of Justice Shafer, the Board adjouned at 11 P.M. John C. Fairchild Town Clerk Deputy Clerk.
