TOWN OF MAMARONECK,
held August 18th, 1920.
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton
at 8.45 P.M.
PRESENT: Supervisor Burton,
Justices, Boyd, Collins, Dudley and Shafer,
Deputy Clerk, Sherman
Counsellor Gamble.
The minutes of the meeting of July 21st , 1920 were
read and upon motion approved.
Upon motion, duly seconded, it was
VOTED, that the Town Board extend
congratulations to the Deputy Town
Clerk on the manner in which the
minute books are being kept.
The report of the Receiver of Taxes for the month of
July, 1920 was received, read, ordered placed on file and is as
follows:

A communication from from the Public Service Commission
Second District was received in relation to Local and Joint Pass-
enger tariff and rates for chartered cars. Same was ordered placed
on file and referred to Counsel.
A communication from John Ryan making application
for the appointment of Patrolman in the unincorporated section of
the Town was received, read, ordered placed on file.
A communication was received from Samuel McAndless &
Son in relation to fixing the wall of the Town Clerk's Office
quoting a price of $70,00 to have same done.
Upon motion, duly seconded, it was
VOTED; that the matter of repair-
ing wall be left in the hands of
the Supervisor with power.
Upon ROLL CALL all members present voted in the affirma4
ative and the Supervisor declared the motion carried.

that any one present wishing to pre
sent an matter before the Board,
that they now-be heard,
A petition was presented in relation to Peace Officers
for the unincorponated section of the Town. Same was received and
laid over to subsequent order of business.
Justice Shafer of the Committee, reported meeting held
at his office in relation to the new Hook and Ladder truck.
Mr. Harlach and Mr. Connolly reported in relation to the same, also
on new building for Fire District No.1. Committee reports progress.
The petition in relation to Peace Officers was taken
up , whereupon the following resolution was offered by Justice
Shafer and seconded by Justice Boyd.
WHEREAS, there has been presehted to
this Town Board a petition under
Chapter 48 Section 121A Town Law, in
relation to appointment of Peace Off-
icers, requesting the Town Board to
take the necessary action, to bring said
section of Town Law into full force
and effect, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that said petition be re-
ceived, ordered placed on file,
spread upon the minutes and is as
follows;
TO THE HONORABLE TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK.
WE, the undersigned, being at least 25 resident and taxpayers
of the Town of Mamaroneck, whose names appear on the last preceding
assessment roll of said Town, do hereby make application to your
Honorable Board pursuant to Section 121A of the Town Law, to ann-
ually raise a sum of money as is specifically set forth and provided
under said statute, for the purpose of defraying the expenses nec-
essary for the appointment of necessary Peace Officers for the pres-
ervation of the public peace of the Town, and to, pursuant to said
statute and the authority therein conferred upon you, to take the
necessary steps to bring all of the provisions od Said Section 121A
into full force and effect.
and be it further
RESOLVED, that the aforesaid petition
be and the same is hereby granted, and
the Supervisor is authorized and empowered
to levy and annually raise by taxation a
sum of money not to exceed one fifth of
one per centum of the assessed valuation
of the taxable property of said district
herein after described for said purposes
provided in Chapter 48, Section 121A, and
be it further,
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor, hereby is
authorized and empowered to make application
on behalf of said Town of Mamaroneck, to
the Board of Supervisors to designate the
part or portion of said Town which shall
be liable to such taxation and is as follows
to wit;
All that portion of the Town of Mamaroneck
lying and being without the boundaries of
the incorporated villages of Mamaroneck
and Larchmont within said Town, and be it
further
RESOLVED, that the sum necessary to be xx
raised, shall be levied and collected in
the same manner as other taxes from the
aforesaid portion of said Town herein des-
ignated, and be it further
RESOLVED, that Counsel be authorized and
directed to prepare the necessary resolution
to be presented by Supervisor Burton to
the Board of Supervisors at their next
meeting.
The Clerk called the roll and the following voted in the
affirmative: Burton, Boyd, Collins, Dudley, Shafer and Sherman.
negative, None. The Supervisor thereupon declared the resolution
adopted.
The Supervisor reported that he had taken up the matter of
the purchase of a new motorcycle.
Upon motion duly seconded it was
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be
authorized and empowered to sec-
ure the new motorcycle and that
the same be made a proper Town
charge.
Upon roll call all members present voted in the affirmative
The Clerk reported the need of rubber mats for the Town
Office.
Upon motion duly seconded it was
VOTED, that the Clerk be given
authority to purchase sanitary
rubber mats for the floor of the
Town Offices and that the same be
made a proper Town charge.
The Clerk called the Roll and all members present voted
in the affirmative.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at
11.30 P.M.
