HomeMy WebLinkAbout1920_03_31 Town Board Minutes Minutes of a meeting of the Torn Board TOWN OF MAMARONECK held. March 31st ,1920. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 8.45 P.M. PRESENT: Supervisor Burton, Justices Boyd, Dudley and Shafer Clerk Sherman Counsellor Gamble. The minutes of the meetings of February 16th, February 26th, March 2nd, and March 6th, were read, and Upon motion , were approved. The report of the Receiver of Taxes for the month of February was received, read, ordered placed on file and is as follows. TOWN OF MAMARONECK. Office of the Receiver of Taxes. T. DeVeau appeared before the Board on behalf of the residents of Dean Place in relation to water being in- stalled on that street. Upon motion, duly seconded it was VOTED, that a Committee be app- ointed to appear before the Vil- lage Board of the Village of Lar- chmont in reference to this matter and to report back to this Board at its next meeting. The Supervisor appointed the following Committee: Justices Collins and Shafer in conjunction with Counsellor Gamble. Mr. Frederick P. Boehm asked the assistance of the Town Board to help secure the installation of water in Vine Road in the Woods of Larchmont. The Supervisor stated that the matter is now before the New York Inter-Urban Water Company and that he willl have a favorable report very shortly. Mr. William D. Daymon appeared before the Board in relation to the cancellation of an erroneouos tax assessrment from $300 to $118.86 on a piece of property on Stanley Avenue. Upon motion, duly seconded, it was VOTED, that the Supervisor appoint a Committee to investigate this matter and report back to this Board at its next meeting. The Supervisor appointed the following Committee: Justice Dudley, Counsellor Gamble and the Clerk. Mr. H. J. Brewer was present and spoke in relation to the extension of the present Sewer District to include the Larchmont Gardens section: requesting of the Town Board that the Sewer Commissioners be authorized to prepare a map of the proposed extension Upon motion duly seconded, it was VOTED, that a Comnmittee be appoint- ed to wait on the Sewer Commissioners to take up the matter of the petition of the residents of Larohmont Gardens taking with it the reccomendation of the Town Board that the Commissioners take the necessary steps to acquire the necessary data, to complete the petition which has been prepared for the aforesaid district. Upon ROLL CALL, the following voted in the Affirmative Burton, Boyd, Dudley, Shafer and Clerk. --, Negative, None. The Supervisor thereupon declared the motion carried. and the following Commiittee was appointed: Justices Dudley and Shafer Mr. H.J.Brewer and Counsellor Gamble. Supervisor Burton presented the Bond of T. Palmer Howell to the Town Board in the sum of 20.000 and the same was approved as to suffiiency and form and Upon motion, duly seconded it was VOTED, that the same be filed with the Town Clerk. The report of the Supervisor from February 1st to February 29th inclusive was received, read, ordered placed on file and is as follows. Town Board Town of Mamaroneck Sgn. Geo .W.Button Mamaroneck N.Y. Supervisor. The following resolution offered by Justice Dudley seconded by Justice Shafer was upon ROLL CALL duly adopted. RESOLVED, that Dr. William E. Bullard of Larchmont N.Y. be and he hereby is reappointed Health Officer for the Town of Mamaroneck for the per- iod of four years beginning Febru- ary 20th,1920 at an annual salary of $500. to be paid in monthly installments Upon ROLL CALL the following voted in the affirmative; Burton, Boyd, Dudley Shafer and Clerk Negative, None. The Supervisor thereupon declared the resolution adopted. A communication from George P. Forbes notifying the Town Board of an increase in rent for the office of Justice Shafer to $35.00 per month was received, read and Upon motion by justice Shafer seconded by Justice Boyd, it was RESOLVED, that Justice Frederick P. Shafer be and he hereby is auth- orized and empowered for and on behalf of the Town of Mamaroneck to lease as a monthly tenant the premises now occupied by him for Justices Quarters from George P. Forbes at the rate of $ 35.00 per month and that the Supervisor be authorized to pay same upon the presentation of proper vouchers. The Clerk called the ROLL. Voting in the Affirmative, Supervisor Burton, Boyd Dudley Shafer and the Clerk. Negative, None. The Supervisor thereupon declared the resolution adopted. Notice that the Spring Primary day would be April 6th, 1920 having been received from the Board of Election, It was moved and seconded, that the Clerk ratify the Inspectors of their duties on Primary Day and to be instructed under said notice to appear before the Town Clerk on or before the 5th day of April 1920 to take the oath of office. The Clerk was also instruced to notify the Carpenter to erect the necessary booths for the different districts. The question of the Janitor for the Town Offices was discussed and Upon motion by Justice Dudley seconded by Justice Shafer, it was VOTED, that the employment of Janitor be left in the hands of the Clerk at a salary not to ex- ceed $ 25.00 per month and that the Supervisor be authorized and empowered to pay the same upon presentation of the proper voucher. Voting in the Affirmative, Supervisor Burton, Justice Boyd, Dudley and Shafer and the Clerk. Negative, None. The Supervisor thereupon declared the motion adopted. The Supervisor reported the sale of the old typewriter desk to the Mamaroneck Lumber & Supply Company for a sum of $ 10.00 There being, no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10.45 P.M.
