HomeMy WebLinkAbout1920_03_06 Town Board Minutes MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE TOWN BOARD TOWN OF PRONECK, held MARCH 6th, 1920 The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 9.00 P.M. PRESENT:- Supervisor, Burton. Justices , Boyd and Dudley. Deputy Clerk Sherman. Upon motion, duly seconded, it was VOTED, that the reading of minutes of meetings not yet approved, be dispensed with. The Supervisor reported the receipt of a communication from County Attorney Mr. Davidson in relation to the income tax which was read, ordered spread upon the minutes and .filed with the Supervisor. March 5th, 1920 Dear Sir: The Governor yesterday signed the amendment to the Westchester county Tax Law, allowing the Board of Supervisors to estimate the probable revenue from income taxes and have the amount of such estimate deducted from the county taxes payable by each town. The enclosed resolution is the one which the Town of Rye and several of the other towns are going to pass. If you desire to take advantage of this law and reduce the amount of County taxes which you have to pay this year, you should have your Town Board pass this resolution between now and Mondays meeting and bring with you a certified copy of the resolution. Yours very truly, William A. Davidson. County Attorney. Justice Dudley offered the following resolution. WHEREAS, by Chapter thirty-one of the laws of Nineteen hundred and twenty, provision has been made in the Westchester County Tax Law for estimating by the Board of Supervisors of the probable revenue from the State income tax otherwise creditable to the different Towns, and WHEREAS, said act provides that if a Supervisor of any Town files with the Board of Supervisors a cert- tified copy of a resolution passed by the Town Board of any such Town, requesting the Board of Supervisors, to estimate for said Town the probable revenue which would be credited to such Town by reason of the income tax, that the Board of Supervisors shall estimate such probable revenue and direct the Clerk of said Board, to deduct such estimated amount from the amount of County tax lev- ied each of the Towns requesting such deduction, NOW THEREFORE BE IT, RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors be req- uested to estimate for the Town of Mamaroneck the probable revenue which would be credited to such Town by reason of the income tax, and be it further, RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and directed to file with the Board of Super- visors of Westchester County a certified copy of this resolution. Upon ROLL CALL, the following voted in the affirmative, G.W.Burton, W.A. Boyd, G.B. Dudley and F.H. Sherman. Negative, None. The Supervisor thereupon declared the resolution adopted. At the request of the Supervisor, the Superintendent of Highways appeared and reported to the condition of Highways relating to snow removal. It was the sense of the meeting the Superintendent had diligently performed his duties since his taking office. There be no further business, upon motion the meeting adjourned at 9.45 P.M..
