TOWN OF MAMARONECK
held
FEBRUARY 26th, 1920.
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton
at 8.45 P.M.
PRESENT: Supervisor Burton
Justices, Boyd, Dudley and Shafer.
Deputy Clerk Sherman.
Upon motion, duly seconded, it was
VOTED, to dispense with reading of
minutes of meetings not yet read
and approved.
Under call of communications, a letter from Mr Robert
H. Stevens relating to the awarding of contract for the collection
of swill, ashes and garbage, was received and ordered filed with
the Supervisor.
The Clerk reported receipt of another bid offered by
Baldwin & Logan, which the Board ordered returned to the bidders
for the reason that the notice of bidding called for the bids
to be opened February 16th, 1920.
It was then moved that the Board take up for consideration
the awarding of contract for collection of ashes etc.
The Supervisor thereupon asked if any one present wished
to be heard on this matter. The following gentlemen appeared.
Mr. R.H. Stevens, Mr. H.J.Brewer, and Mr. W.A. Palmer who voiced
their approval of the present contractor being continued to
carry on this work.
Upon motion, it was decided that the Board recess and
go into executive session for deliberation on the awarding of
the contract
Upon reconvening Justice Shafer offered the following.
resolution.
WHEREAS, on the 16th day of February, 1920
bids were duly received for the collection
and disposition of swill, garbage and ashes
within the Fire District No.1 Town of Mam-
aroneck, and on that date the awarding of
the contract on the said bids was deferred
until the meeting to be held on this date and
WHEREAS, the Town Board has given full con-
sideration to the awarding of such contract,
therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the contract under the afore-
said bids be awarddd to the lowest bidder,
ie: Gabriel Sganga at the the price set forth
in his bid which is $3200. upon his comply-
ing with the requirements as set forth in
such bid. and be it further
RESOLVED, that Counsellor Gamble be authorized
and directed to prepare the proper contract
and secure the required bond and that after
same has been duly approved by Counsel,
THE SUPERVISOR is hereby authorized and
embowered to sign such contract in be-
half of the Town of Mamaroneck and the
Clerk be authorized and directed to att-
est the same.
Mr. H.J. Brewer requested of the Board that the dist-
rict of Larchmont Gardens be included in the present sewer
district and
Upon motion, duly seconded, it was
VOTED, that on the application of
Mr. H.J. Brewer, Counsellor Gamble be
requested to prepare the proper pet-
itions for a proposed annexation of
territory to the present sewer dist-
rict and report back with recommend-
ations at the next meeting of the Board.
The matter of increasing the salaries of the Special
Constables was the next order of business and the following
resolution was offered by Justice Dudley , seconded by Justice
Boyd.
RESOLVED, that the salaries of the
Special Constables be and the same
hereby are increased to the sum of
$125. per month to take effect as
of February 1st , 1920. Be it further
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and
he hereby is authorized and directed
to pay said salaries in accordance
herewith.
The Clerk called the roll . Voting in the affirmative,
Geo. W. Burton, Wm. A. Boyd, Geo. B. Dudley, Fredrick P .Shafer
and the Clerk. Voting in the negative: None.
Upon motion , the meeting adjourned at 10.30 P.M.
