CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting held at the Town Center was called to order at 6:00 P.M. by Chairman
Druker.
SUPERINTENDENT’S UPDATE:
Ms. Fisher reported the following:
Due to the ice rink’s inability to currently make and maintain ice as a result of a major
mechanical failure, the only way to open the ice rink in September is by renting costly
equipment.
The Town has been asked by MYHA to consider moving forward with the rental
equipment until the current equipment can be repaired or replaced so that they can
begin their hockey season. Mr. Brendan Collins, Mamaroneck Youth Hockey
Association presented an overview of MYHA’s registration for the upcoming season.
MYHA has 230 players registered, which is down 10%. This 10% is made up of the
younger age players. MYHA would like to have the players on the ice starting
th
September 14. 25% of players have already been skating at nearby rinks. Mr. Collins
feels that if MYHA can conduct their regular season even under COVID guidelines, their
ice rental fees would cover the cost associated with the rental of the equipment.
Mr. Collins stated that MYHA would commit to their rental hours through the end of year
regardless of any scenario that may happen due to COVID. Any other available ice
time could be used for the Town’s Recreation hockey program and other private renters
for additional revenue.
The following are the assumptions made for the analysis:
st
Equipment rental would be for a period of three months beginning September 1.
The revenue would cover the monthly costs of renting the refrigeration as
outlined to have ice for September.

kids to skate due to COVID-19.
After further discussion, Jim Druker, Recreation Commission Chairman made a motion
for the Recreation Department to go forward with renting the equipment needed to
make ice while the current mechanical equipment is being repaired. All in favor.
