HomeMy WebLinkAbout1919_03_26 Town Board Minutes Minutes of the Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck, held March 26th, 1919. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 8:30 P.M. The Clerk reported the followingg present: Supervisor Burton, Justices Collins, Boyd and Shafer, J.C. Fairchild, Town Clerk, and Ralph A. Gamble, Counsel. The minutes of the meetings of February 21st, 1919 , and of February 24th, 1919, were read and upon motion approved. The Financial Report of the Receiver of Taxes for the month of February, 1919, was presented, read and upon motion the same was approved, ordered filed and spread upon the minutes and is as follows: " TOWN OF MAMARONECK " Office of Receiver of Taxes '"T. W. Burton, Supervisor. "To the Honorable, "The Town Board of the Town of "tamaroneck, Mamaroneck, N.Y. A communication from the Murray Development Company, was presented by the Supervisor and read, requesting an apportion- ment of taxes for the years 1913, 1914 and 1915, affecting Section 7, Block 22, Lot 6. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was RESOLVED that the application of the Murray Development Company be denied and that the Supervisor be authorized to so notify the Company of the aforesaid action. Upon motion the regular order of business was dispensed with to give any persons present an opportunity to be heard on any matters of interest. Mr. Addor, Mr. Breuer, Mr. Brewer, Messrs. W.I. and W. A. Palmer appeared regarding the drainage of the Weaver Street Fire House property. Mr. Paris appeared before the Board urging the installa- tion of the proposed sewer outlet. Mr. Brewer presented a petition from the Larchmont Gardens Association requesting that the Larchmont Gardens be included in the proposed Sewer District and that Counsel prepare a pe- tition in proper form for submission to the taxpayers of said district for signature. Upon motion Mr. Brewer 's petition was received and filed. Upon motion Counsel was authorized to prepare the necessary papers in proper form as requested. The Supervisor was authorized to appoint a Committee to take charge of the "Clean-up Week" work. The Supervisor reported that he had taken up the question of a new lease of the Town offices with the owners of the build- ing and that they had made a proposition to rent the entire floor for $70.00 per month which included the room adjoining the present offices. Upon motion of Justice Shafer seconded by Judge Collins, it was RESOLVED that the Supervisor be authorized and directed to negotiate a lease for the present quarters and the room ad- joining at a rental of $70.00 per month. Mr. Gamble reported on the matter of the cancellation of the Bond of John C. Kane former Receiver of Taxes for year 1901, and presented a resolution for consideration. Upon motion it was RESOLVED, Whereas, it has been brought to the attention of this Board that the Bond given by John C. Kane for the faithful performance of his duties as Collector of Taxes for the Town of Mamaroneck, dated 1901, has never been cancelled, and WHEREAS, upon information Bradford B. McGregor, deceased, was one of the Sureties on said Bond; and WHEREAS, the Bond is still a lien against the property of both Principal and Sureties on said Bond on the records of the County Clerk of Westchester County because said Bond has never been cancelled; and WHEREAS, a request has been made that said Bond be forthwith cancelled so that said lien may be removed; and WHEREAS, it would appear to this Board that said John C. Kane as fully discharged the duties of his position and has accounted for and paid over funds received by him as a receiver of taxes, and that said Bond should be cancelled, and that the failure to cancel same heretofore has apparently been an oversight; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Bond of John C. Kane dated 1901 given by him for the faithful performance of his duties as Collector of Taxes for the Town of Mamaroneck covering the term of office to which he was elected, which term of office has long since expired, be and the same hereby is cancelled and the said John C. Kane and the said Sureties on the aforesaid Bond discharged of and from any and all liability in connection therewith. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution be filed in the office of the County Clerk of the County of Westchester and that the lien created by said Bond on the records of said County Clerk be discharged. Mr. Gamble reported upon the conclusion of Garbage Contract and that Contractor had started his work. Upon motion the meeting adjourned at 10:45 P.M. Town Clerk.
