HomeMy WebLinkAbout1919_02_10 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Town Board, Town of Mamaroneck, held February 10th, 1919. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 9:10 P.M. The Clerk reported the following present: Supervisor Burton: Justices Collins, Boyd, Dudley and Shafer, Town Clerk Fair- child, Ralph A. Gamble, counsel. The minutes of the meeting of February 4th, 1919 were read and approved. The Supervisor presented and read his reply to the letter of Mr. E. C . Griffen in regard to his request on behalf of the Larchmont Public Health Association. The Supervisor stated that as the primary reason for call- ing the meeting was for the opening of bids for the contract for one year for the collection and disposal of ashes, garbage, swill and refuse in Fire District No. 1, it was upon motion RESOLVED that the bids received be now opened. The Clerk proceeded to open and read the bids received as follows: Arthur Poschen $2750. John T. Carroll 4500. Both bids were accompanied by the required deposit of $100. The Supervisor stated that pursuant to the report of Counsel on the matter necessary funds for the carrying out of the contract must be provided, and incorporated in the Budget before the contract was entered into and that if this was immediately done he would expedite the matter and present the Budget amount to the Board of Supervisors for their approval at their next meeting on Monday, February 12th, 1919. The following resolution was offered by Justice Collins, seconded by Justice Dudley: RESOLVED, that there be levied and assessed upon the taxable property of the Town of Mamaroneck, lying within Fire District No. 1, and collected, the sum of Two thousand seven hundred and fifty Dollars ($2750.00), for the collection, removal and disposal of ashes, garbage, swill and refuse within said District. Upon motion of Justice Shafer seconded by Justice Boyd, it was RESOLVED that the Supervisor and Counsel be authorized and directed to prepare a proper form of contract for the proposed col- lection and disposal of ashes, garbage, swill and refuse within that portion of the Town known as Fire, Lighting and Water Supply District No. 1 for the period of one year, and that the same be referred back to this Board for its approval. A vote being taken the following voted in the affirmative, Supervisor Burton, Justices Collins, Boyd, Dudley and Shafer, Clerk Fairchild. In the negative, none. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was RESOLVED that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized to take the necessary steps to procure the services of one man for Patrol and Fire purposes within that portion of the Town of Mamaroneck lying outside the incorporated villages of Larch- mont and Mamaroneck, and that his salary and equipment be made a charge against the aforesaid District. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was RESOLVED that the Board approve the appointment of Frank Incao as a town constable to serve for the unexpired term of Clarence B. Summers resigned said appointment being subject to his properly qualifying. Upon motion the meeting adjourned at 10:36 P.M. Town Clerk.
