Altieri, Town Administrator Charles Baumblatt, Police Chief Dolores Battalia, Supervisor Thomas Amlicke, Councilman The Chairman called the meeting to order at 8:15 P.M. Approval of Minutes On motion by Chairman Zavell and seconded by Anthony Math and carried unanimously, the minutes of July 13, 1987 were approved as written. Rockland Avenue - Parking near Badger Day Camp Matter deferred to next meeting. No Parking - Daymon Terrace The Town Administrator and the Police Chief reported to the Committee on the Town's work with the Murray Avenue School PTA to provide a safer walking area for the students on the east side of Daymon Terrace. Part of the program was to prevent automobiles from making a wide right turn onto Daymon Terracer from Forest Avenue. It is therefore recommended that a "NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER" ordinance be adopted on the west side of Daymon Terrace near Forest Avenue. Related to this matter, Councilman Amlicke requested stricter enforcement of the sign erected at the corner of Forest and Daymon to prohibit the blocking of Daymon Terrace during the red phase of Forest Avenue at the traffic signal at Forest Avenue and Weaver Street. Loading Zones - Larchmont Acres Based upon the review of the Town Administrator's memo on this matter, the Traffic Committee requested the Town Administrator to write to the management of the Larch- mont Acres to determine their feelings on the matter. Intersection - Murray Ave. , Myrtle Blvd. and Chatsworth Ave. This matter was deferred in view of the upcoming meeting between a traffic consultant, the Town Administrator and the Chief of Police. Report to be submitted at the next meeting. -2- Hidden Driveway Sign - Weaver Street Mr. Castle of 425 Weaver Street appeared before the Committee to request a hidden driveway sign near his home in view of the fact that his driveway is near a bend in the road and vehicles often travel at a high rate of speed. The Committee, after review, requested that this matter be placed on hold. Mr. Castle's home is near the intersection of Forest Avenue and Weaver Street and Mr. Castle's problem may be eliminated due to the new traffic signal. Mr. Castle was requested to keep the Committee updated on this matter. Stop Sign - Intersection of Myrtle Boulevard and Preston Street Mr. and Mrs. J. Russo of Myrtle Boulevard appeared before the Committee to request the installation of a stop sign on Myrtle Boulevard at the intersection of Preston Street. They are concerned over the rate of speed at which vehicles travel on Myrtle Boulevard and feel the stop sign will reduce the problem. The Committee explained that stop signs are not for the purpose of reducing traffic speed and therefore it would be inappropriate to install a stop sign at this loca- tion. The committee requested that the Chief arrange for periodic radar enforce- ment on Myrtle Boulevard to help reduce the problem of speed. In a related matter, there was discussion of eliminating the current one-way ordin- ance on Preston Street. The Police Chief will study the impact of this and report at the next meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Russo are to be notified of the next meeting. Restricted Parking - Huguenot Drive The Chairman acknowledged receipt of a petition from residents of Huguenot Drive requesting the establishment of a restrictive parking ordinance to prevent parking by commuters. Mrs. Sue Scherer, Mrs. Carol Dallos and Mr. Robert Dallos appeared in support of the petition. After discussion by the Committee, on motion by Chairman Zavell and seconded by Anthony Math, it was unanimously carried that the Committee recommends the establishment of a three hour parking ordinance on Huguenot Drive between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. , Monday through Friday except holidays. Highway Department and Police Department will determine appropriate locations of signage. Stop Sign - Rockland Avenue and Baldwin Place The Chief of Police indicated to the Committee that this intersection may be with in the jurisdiction of the Village of Mamaroneck and therefore he will refer the matter to the Village of Mamaroneck and notify Mr. Makeover who wrote to the Traffic Committee on this matter. Keep to Right Dangerous Curve Sign - Hommocks Road The Traffic Committee reviewed the letter submitted by Mrs. Lifschultz requesting signage on Hommocks Road to indicate the bend in the road. After discussion by the Traffic Committee, it was their determination that there is an insufficient _3_ amount of traffic to warrant such signage on Hommocks Road. Next meeting date - Tuesday, October 13, 1987 Meeting adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
