Intersection of Murray Ave. , Myrtle Blvd. and Chatsworth Ave.
Chief Baumblatt reported that Alan Davis, Dolores Battalia, Commissioner Dallas
and Chief Baumblatt met to discuss this intersection. Mr. Davis will have a
plan sent to the Town Administrator's office. Chief Baumblatt stated that
there are two forces to contend with at this intersection, one is vehicle traffic
and the other is pedestrian traffic. Mr. Richard Chabrowe was present to
discuss this situation.
Stop Sign - Myrtle Blvd. and Preston Street
Mrs. Russo, a resident, stated that there has been no improvement in slowing
the speed of traffic. Chief Baumblatt suggested that making Preston a two
way-street at all times might help the situation. Surveillance was discussed.
Fenimore Road
Richard Scheyer of Fenimore Road stated the residents' concerns for fast
moving traffic on Fenimore Road. The residents suggested the need for trimmed
hedges on the street and the possibility of a traffic light. Mr. 3avell stated
that he personally would be against a traffic light, but requested that the
Police Department furnish the committee with a report of how many accidents
have occurred on that street in the last three years. There was further
discussion regarding the lack of sidewalks and the speeding traffic along with
the request by residents that a stop sign be placed on Fenimore Rd. Mr. Zavell
stated that there was an accepted use for stop signs and that slowing traffic
was not the accepted use. Mr. Zavell requested that Commissioner Dallas attend
•
the next meeting where there will be a discussion regarding when and where a
stop sign should be placed.
Howell Park
Richard Hesel represented Howell Park residents. He stated that the existing
stop signs had not solved the problem in the area. Residents are requesting
that stop signs be placed on Howell Ave. rather than on the side streets
entering Howell Ave. Mr. Zavell suggested that this will be discussed at
the next meeting when we have a clear definition of stop signs and their use.
Village Square Parking Lot

of Central School.
