STOP SIGNS-VINE RD. AND VINE PL., VINE RD. AND GLEN EAGLES DR.
The Chairman asked Chief Munch for his report and recommendations. The
Chief reported that the home owners at the intersection of Vine Rd. and
Vine Place have voluntarily trimmed their shrubbery so there is no obstruction
at that intersection. Committee members agreed that the visibility at
this intersection is clear now.
In regard to the Vine Rd. and Glen Eagles Dr. intersection, the Chief
suggested four way stop signs (addition of 2 more), with a stop sign ahead
warning sign. The two existing stop signs are visible.
Emerson White of 55 Vine Rd. stated that he would be willing to cooperate
in any way with shrubbery, but part of the problem is a large blue spruce
tree and the grade of Vine Rd.
After discussion by the Committee, Mr. Kenny made the following motion:
The Traffic Committee recommends to the Town Board to adopt Chief Munch's
recommendation and add four way stop signs plus a warning sign stating
stop sign ahead at this location.

UPDATE: BADGER DAY CAMP-ROCKLAND AVE.
The Chairman asked Chief Munch for his report and recommendations. The
Chief reported that he met with the owners of the day camp and they agreed
that the camp will hire a crossing guard to be present between 3:30 and 4:30
when the camp is in session. The Chief suggested that signs be installed
stating NO STOPPING for 200 feet either side of the crest of the hill.
After discussion, Mr. Mari made the following motion: The Traffic Committee
recommends to the Town Board to adopt the Police Chief's recommendation and
install signs stating NO STOPPING within 200 feet of the crest of the hill
on Rockland Ave. at the Badger Day Camp entrance.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Lobl and carried unanimously.
Their was discussion of traffic during swim meets and Mr. Ryan suggested
he speak to the owner of the property so he could notify the Police Dept.
when a meet will take place. This would encourage the possibility of
the camp hiring a crossing guard during those hours also.
PARKING-WEAVER ST. BETWEEN HILLCREST AVE. AND DANTE AVE.
After discussion, it was agreed that no parking signs should be installed on
Weaver St. Chief Munch pointed out that Weaver St. is a State Road. The
Committee agreed to give Chief Munch the authority to request from the
State D.O.T. permission to install no parking signs on both sides of Weaver
Street from Dante Ave. to Hillcrest Ave.
MURRAY AVE. TRUCK STUDY
Chairman Lobl gave a report on the background of this study for the new
committe members, then turned the floor over to Mr. Alan Davis.
Mr. Davis gave a brief summary of the traffic study done by his firm which
included a traffic count done on a Monday and Saturday.
Mr. McCartney of 163 Murray Ave. stated that Murray Ave. became a preferred
route when the Weaver St. bridge closed. He feels that there are too many trucks.
Mr. Levine of 288 Murray Ave. stated that there is a tremendous amount
of traffic. He questioned the sign directing traffic to U.S. 1 from Weaver
Street. Mr. Altieri reported that the sign had been stolen soon after
it was erected.
Mrs. Friedman of 164 Murray Ave. stated that she feels Weaver St. is a better
option than Murray Ave. for truck traffic due to the school.
Mr. Levitz of 280 Murray Ave. stated that trucks found a different route
before they traveled on Murray Ave.
Mr. Ashanyan of 283 Murray Ave. stated that residents of Murray Ave. are
not concerned with where the traffic goes as long as it leaves Murray Ave.
Mrs. Magazino stated that the quality of life is affected by the truck traffic
on Murray Ave. and suggested no through trucks.
Mr. Kenny stated that he was surprised by the small number of tractor trailers
reported in the study. He would be concerned with enforcing a no truck regulation.
Chief Munch stated enforcement would be difficult unless a driver committed
a violation.
