MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK TRAFFIC COMMI'1'n,E HELD
ON TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 1992 IN THE SENIOR CENTER OF THE TOWN CENTER, 740 W.
BOSTON POST ROAD, MAMARONECK, NEW YORK.

ALSO PRESENT: Stephen V. Altieri, Town Administrator
Chief Paul Munch, Police Chief
The chairman called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. He introduced the
committee members and explained the purpose of the committee to those in
attendance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of March 3, 1992 were approved unanimously with the following
addition: At the end of the minutes add "respectfully submitted by Cynthia
Rocchio.
SLOW SIGN, SPEEDING - ROCKLAND AVE.
Stan Ruben of 75 Rockland Ave. stated his concern with the speed on Rockland Ave.
He would like signs posted on Rockland Ave. coming from the direction of the
Rockland Ave. bridge stating SLOW.
Ed Clark of 67 Rockland Ave. stated he would like to see speed limit signs
posted. He feels 30 mph is too fast for this street. He would also like to
see the shrubbery at the crest of the hill on Rockland trimmed. The signs
stating NO THRU TRUCKING at Baldwin Ave. on Rockland can't be seen and the
one at Avon and Rockland is missing. Mr. Clark further stated that the light
on the Thruway shines into motorists eyes at the Rockland Ave. bridge.
Mr. Ruben added that if cars are parked on both sides of Rockland Ave. , it
is difficult to pull onto Rockland from Weaver Street.
Both residents stated concern regarding leaving their driveways onto Rockland AVe.
The committee discussed possible solutions and agreed that a survey of the signs
on Rockland Ave. is needed in order to see if they need to be replaced or
others added. Mr. Altieri will see that this is done and put it on the May agenda.
Chief Munch would like to see if selective enforcement has an impact before
changing the speed limit. He will have the average speed surveyed.
Although the Rockland Ave. Thruway Bridge is in the Village of Mamaroneck,
Mt. Altieri will speak with the appropriate authorities for the Thruway
regarding the light shining onto Rockland Ave. at the bridge.
PARKING CONCERN - WEAVER ST. NEAR DANTE/W. GARDEN
It was reported that the NO PARKING signs have been reinstalled at this location.
OLD BUSINESS
TRUCK TRAFFIC - MURRAY AVE.
Mr. Lobl reported that this item would be discussed at the Town Board meeting
on April 22nd. in a proposal to ban truck traffic during evening hours.

BURTON ROAD
Mr. Mari reported that the school board has installed a gate in the fence
between the Acres parking lot and Central school. He asked if anyone would
like to work with him to investigate other options for parents dropping off
children at the school other than on the private property of the parking lot.
Mr. Lobl asked that committee members visit the area and familiarize themselves
4 with the issues.
Mrs. Magazino stated that a comprehensive study of all schools regarding
traffic problems should be done.
ADJOURNMENT
On a motion from Mr. Leitner, seconded by Mr. Mari and carried unanimously,
the meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
