® Approval of Minutes:
Deferred until the next meeting.
Burton Road and Boston Post Road- re. Central School Students:
Patricia O'Donnell, of 723A Larchmont Acres, was present.
David Lobl: Stated that Richard Mari lives at Larchmont Acres.
Patricia O'Donnell: Stated that she has lived in the area prior to the building of the school. There
is only one entrance for vehicles. Traffic is getting worse. Many children walk through the
Acres. Closing the gate is a good idea, yet, the school is not interested. School District now
uses the parking lot for the school buses to unload students. A"NO PARKING" ban on
Burton Road would be a mistake since there are no sidewalks on this road. The hill is
dangerous because the Acres does not maintain the parking lot entrance- snow and ice have
made the hill and entrance to the lot very dangerous.

Richard Mari: Remarked that the Acres has an easement to access the Boston Post Road from
their parking lot. At one point the gate was removed, however, children used to climb under
the fence. The gate was moved to prevent damage to cars. Sarah Tate has said that the gate
was necessary despite it entering onto private property. Some Acres residents like the access to
the school. Parents often use the parking spaces. The hill entrance is private property. The
traffic count is the following:
8:05 - 8:15 a.m. 9 cars up, 7 cars down
8:15 - 8:30 a.m. 7 cars up, 0 cars down
8:30 - 8:45 a.m. 13 cars up, 22 cars down
8:45 - 9:00 a.m. 26 cars up, 11 cars down
9:00 - 9:15 a.m. 3 cars up, 6 cars down
The Town tries to put snow in front of the hill in order to block its use.
Lieutenant Anderson: Stated that negotiations took place in order to remove the gate. Property
owners decided not to remove the gate.
David Lobl: Questioned who owns the right-of-way to Central School?
Intersection of Murray/Myrtle/Chatsworth:
Richard Williams, of 21 North Chatsworth Avenue, was present.
David Lobl: Stated that a traffic consultant was hired by the Town to determine the best
configuration. There may not be a solution.
Pincus Leitner: Suggested adding the signage "YIELD TO PEDESTRIAN."
David Lobl: Suggested selective enforcement of cars not yielding to pedestrians.
Lieutenant Anderson: Stated there have not been pedestrian accidents in over five years.
Richard Mari: Stated that the length of the"WALK" signals is a concern.
Lieutenant Anderson: Stated that no exclusive "WALK" sign exists.
David Lobl: Stated that the Myrtle/Chatsworth intersection cannot have an exclusive "WALK"
signal. It is a recurring issue.
Next Meeting Set:
Tuesday, February 25, 1997, in the Town Court Room.
