BOSTON POST ROAD, MAMARONECK, NEW YORK. PRESENT: David Lobl, Chairman Deirdre Black Pincus Leitner Rosemarie Magazino RECEIVED Richard Mari NOV 4 1992 ALSO PRESENT: Stephen V. EXCUSED: Camille Odierna The chairman called the meeting to order at 8:10 p.m. He introduced the committee members and explained the purpose of the committee. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On a motion from Mr. Leitner, seconded by Mr. Lobl and carried unanimously, the minutes of the meeting of June 22, 1992 were approved with the following correction: The first line should read, The chairman called the meeting to order at 8:40 p.m. MURRAY AND FOREST AVENUE Mr. Sal Valando of 272 Murray Avenue stated his concern regarding parking on Forest Avenue at Murray Avenue. After discussion, the following motion was made by Mr. Leitner, seconded by Mr. Lobl and carried unanimously: The Traffic Committee adopts the recommendation of September 18, 1992 by Lieutenant Anderson of the Police Department. PARKING-PALMER AVENUE Many residents addressed the issue of poor visibility pulling out onto Palmer Avenue due to the parking along Palmer Avenue. Mr. Kronenberg of 66 Howell Ave. stated it is very difficult to pull out onto Palmer Ave. from Carleon or Howell Ave. Mr. Engels of 1274 Palmer Ave. explained that his driveway exits on Palmer Ave. and the site line is poor. Mr. Breakstone of 1299 Palmer Ave. stated that cars park along the area painted yellow which cuts down visibility. Mr. Borno of 1299 Palmer Ave. stated he would like to see two or three hour parking restrictions on Palmer Ave. to curtail commuter all day parking. Laura McCorry of 1299 Palmer Ave. stated that some residents need daytime parking. After a lengthy discussion regarding time restrictions on parking and eliminating parking spaces near intersections, Mr. Lobl made the following recommendation: Have the Police Department review the area of Palmer Ave. from the Town line to Weaver Street and propose a signage plan taking into consideration driveways and intersections and bring the recommendation back to the committee. The committee voted unanimously to adopt this proposal. INTERSECTION-ROCKLAND AVE. AND HICKORY GROVE DR. Lt. Anderson suggested advisory signs on Rockland coming down the hill. Mr. Lobl suggested leaving the choice of signs to the Police Department. • Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee September 22, 1992 Page 2 INTERSECTION-ROCKLAND AVE. AND HICKORY GROVE DR. (cont) It was agreed that the Police Department will furnish the committee with some appropriate choices of signs at the next meeting. HOMMOCKS PARK Mr. Altieri brought information from the Town Planning Board regarding the parking complex at Hommocks Park. There was a discussion regarding safety of the Hommocks school children during and after construction. Mr. Altieri made the couuuittee aware of the driveway locations and answered questions regarding footage. He further stated that there would be an additional crossing guard at the site during construction along with control of truck traffic during school openings and closings. BRYSON STREET It was agreed to postpone discussion of Bryson Street until the next meeting. This will be placed on the October agenda. ADJOURNMENT On a motion from Mr. Mari, seconded by Mrs. Magazino and carried unanimously, the meeting adjourned at 10:15 p.m. Respectfully submitted by Cynthia Rocchio
