LAC.), t MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK TRAFFIC COMMITTEE HELD TUESDAY,MAY 10, 1994 IN THE COURT ROOM OF THE TOWN CENTER,740 W.BOSTON ROAD,MAMARONECK,NEW YORK. PRESENT: Richard Mari, Acting co-chairperson Camille Odierna,Acting co-chairperson Deirdre Black Pincus Winer ALSO PRESENT: Stephen V.Alfieri,Town Administrator Valerie Moore O'Keefe,Liaison from Town Board Lt. John Anderson,Police Department EXCUSED: David Lobl,Chairman Nancy Angiulo Frank Vozza The meeting was called to order at 8:05 p.m. The members of the committee introduced themselves to those present and the fire exits in the rear of the room were noted. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the April 12, 1994 meeting were approved unanimously with the following changes: (SFF SEPARATE SHEET) OLD BUSINESS: REVIEW MURRAY AVENUE/ECHO LANE/HILLSIDE AVENUE The Town Administrator updated the Committee on the plans of the County to repave Murray Avenue this year.The Town Administrator will be working with the County to try to incorporate the recommendations of the Allan Davis proposal into their repaving. TRAFFIC CONTROL-BOSTON POST ROAD/DILLON/ROAD(new CVS/STAPLES Shopping ar ) The Committee discussed the proposals submitted by Ethan C.Eldon Associates,Inc.Also discussed,were the issues raised in the letter from Martin S. Quigley. Questions were raised as to the notification of the local business that would be affected and if the proposal suggested by the traffic study did not work,would the additional work needed,be paid for by the developer. PARKING REQUEST:4PARTMENT RESIDENT-RICHBELL ROAD McDonalds bas agreed to help this resident due to his unique situation. (1) NEW BUSINESS: ENTERING AND EXITING HIGH TECH CAR WASH Two gentlemen from the car wash came to listen to our concerns. The Committee discussed the accident history provided by the police department and the distance visible for making turns.Due to the small nambes of reported accidents at this location,and the good visibility available,the Committee felt no action was required at this time. MYRTLE BOULEVARD APPROACHING WEAVER STREET-VI II3 Mr. Bernard Sobie of 3 Washington Square addressed the Committee with his concerns about making a right turn on red from eastbound Myrtle Blvd onto southbound Weaver Street. He said that cars cannot see for an adequate distance to safely make the turn from eastbound Myrtle Blvd. onto southbound Weaves Street He also said that the traffic was moving too fast on southbound Weaver Street. The Committee discussed their observations of the intersection and Mr. Sobie's concerns.A motion to recommend to the TOWN BOARD to prohibit right turns on red at all times was made by Ms. Black. The motion was seconded by Ms. Odicrna,Mr. Mari voted aye and Mr.Leitner voted nay.The Committee agreed to discuss this at the next meeting. PARKING CONDITION bF/O DOC'S- I380 BOSTON POST ROAD The Committee discussed a police department memo raising concerns about the parked cars on the street at this location. Due to the crest and bend of the road at this location,southbound traffic has difficulty seeing around the parked cars. The recommendation from U.Nardelli is to prohibit parking at this location. The police memo also notes that to eliminate this parking would make the parking restrictions on the Boston Post Road consistent from the Town border near Ricbbell Road to Alden Road.The Administrator's office will notice the area buses of the suggested change and the Committee will discuss this item at the next meeting. COOPER LANE INTERSECTION AT MARDON ROAD-VLSIBILFTY The Committee received a letter from Ms. Sandra Tashoff of 40 Cooper Lane. She addressed the Committee with her concerns of parked cars blocking visibility at the curved crest of Cooper Lane at Mardon Road as stated in her letter. The Committee agreed with her concerns and Mr.Leitner made a motion,seconded by Mr.Mari and carried unanimously to recommend that the TOWN BOARD prohibit parking on the East side of Cooper Lane between Weaver Street and Mar km Road. ORAL REQUESTS Councilwoman Valerie Moore O'keefe notified the Committee of a missing street sign on Archer Road at Weaver Street The Administrator will notify the Highway Dept to replace the sign. She also has received a call from Ms.Mary Tedesco with concerns for the need of street cleaning in the Dillon Road area. This item will be placed on the next agenda. ADJOURNMENF On a motion by Mr. Leituci ,seconded by Ms. Odierna and carried unanimously,the meeting was adjourned at 9:20 p.m. (2)
