APPPROVAL OF MINUTES
On a motion from Mr. Lobl , seconded by Mr. Leitner and carried
unanimously, the minutes of May 4, 1993 were approved with the
following addition: Under roll call , add NOT PRESENT: Pincus
Leitner, Camille Odierna and Frank Voza.
MURRAY AVENUE AT EDGEWOOD AVENUE AND ECHO LANE
Mr. Lobl state4 that the Town Board has turned down the proposal
to make Echo Lane a one way. Mr. Lobl gave the floor to Mr. Davis
who made his presentation. Mr. Davis stated that if a stop sign
were required, the sight distance would be much too short. Mr. Davis
had investigated changing the shape of the intersection which
included creating a new edge of Echo and Murray by extending the
curb line on Echo to Murray and replanting the corner house front
yard at this location.
The meeting was opened to discussion. Paul Ryan suggested that
since the County was to repave Murray Ave. next year, this could
be added to that project.
Barbara Ostow of Lookout Circle asked if any consideration had
been given to moving the Stop Sign which exists at Murray and
Maple Hill to Murray and Echo Lane. Alice Hefler of 119 Murray
Ave. agreed that an issue is the stop sign.
Paul Reynolds of 164 Hillside Rd. asked if a traffic signal at
this intersection might help. David Lobl stated that the volume
of traffic traversing the intersection does not warrant a traffic
light according to the County study.
Amy Jacobson of 15 Hillside Rd. stated concern with traffic
coming down Echo La. to continue in the same direction on Edgewood
towards Mamaroneck.
Stanley Ostow of Lookout Circle stated that there has been no
0 indication of a problem siting one accident in five years due to
ice on the roadway. He questioned changing anything about the
intersection.
Since a question rose regarding the Town ' s authority to trim the
shrubbery at 97 Murray Ave. , Nancy Angiulo suggested sitting down

with the owners and see what they are willing to do. Paul Reynolds
of Hillside Rd. suggested it was not only hedges , but tree trunks
in the line which block visibility.
Mr. Davis stated that the hedges are not the problem, bushes
in between the two sets of hedges which are 8 to 15 feet high are
the problem.
Frank Voza suggested that if the County would pay for a recon-
figuration of the corner, we should look into that. If the Town
would have to pay for it, the Town should look into buying an
easement to this property which will allow the Town to cut bushes
there.
After lengthy discussion, Mr. Leitner made the following motion:
The Traffic Committee adopts the proposal number one of the Allan
Davis report dated 6/9/93 . The Town should contact the County in
regard to proposal number two of the same report. Also, the Town
should get an estimate of the cost of adopting proposal number
three of the report with and without the Edgewood Ave. curb
extension. Mr. Voza seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
DISCUSSION OF OVERNIGHT PARKING
The committee reviewed the report from Lt . Anderson to Chief Rivera.
The subject was opened to discussion. Mary Stell of 2 Washington
Square stated that it was very inconvenient and hazardous to walk
several blocks after parking the car at night.
Chris O 'Brien of 2 Washington Square stated that other areas on
Chatsworth Ave. have overnight parking, why not Washington Sq?
Laura and Rich Difenbock of Washington Square suggested there be
a machine to -tall for an overnight parking exemption so as not to
tie up emergency lines. They further pointed out that the parking
space waiting list is years long.
Mr. Lobl suggested that we find out why parking is banned overnight
at Washington Square. He would like to know why this area was
not exempt from the overnight ban.
Mr. Altieri will follow up to find out why Washington Square was
not exempt from the original ban and will get the report to the
committee before the September meeting.
- After discussion of Lt. Anderson ' s recommendation, Mr. Lobl made the
following motion: Lt. Anderson ' s proposal of a three day overnight
parking exemption be adopted. Mr . Voza seconded the motion and it
carried unanimously.
NO LEFT TURN - GAP DRIVEWAY
After reviewing the report of Lt . Anderson and discussion by the
committee, the following motion was made by Mr. Mari : The Traffic
Committee recommends that Lt Anderson' s recommendation that left
turns be prohibited from the driveway of THE GAP onto the Boston

REQUEST - HOMMOCKS ROAD PROPERTY ASSOCIATION
The Hommocks Road Property Association has requested that Old
Hommocks Road be restored to a two way road along with the DEAD
END sign being moved towards the STOP SIGN and the painting of
yellow lines on curbs around the school .
During discussion it was pointed out that the road is being used
for test driving cars . It was further suggested that if the
DEAD END sign were moved closer to the STOP SIGN, people would
be warned of the dead end before they commit to driving on it.
Lt. Anderson stated that the Police Department has spoken to both
the Lexus and Volvo managers regarding the test driving and has
been assured it will stop. He asked residents to let the Police
Department know if this continues .
Mr. Altieri stated that he will check into the benefit of making
Old Hommocks Road a two way street.
REQUEST: NO PARKING SIGN - DILLON ROAD AND EDGEWATER PLACE

stating NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER be installed on Dillon Road at
Edgewater Place - dimensions to be furnished by the Police Department.
The motion 7as seconded by Mr. Voza and carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
It was agreed that overnight exemptions be put on the next agenda.
At the request of Alice Hefler, Mr. Lobl stated that the STOP
SIGN on Murray Ave. at Maple Hill be placed on the next agenda.
The committee has discussed this in the past and determined that
the STOP SIGN would not be removed. Information from Alice Hefler
along with information regarding previous discussions of this
STOP SIGN will be included in the September packet.
