APPROVAL OF MINUTES
On a motion from Mr. Lobl, seconded by the Board, minutes of March
1, 1993 were approved with the following corrections: in the
section with the heading Old Hommocks Road "should be reversed" was
duplicated in the minutes, also under that section "westerly flow",
should read "northerly flow".
OLD BUSINESS
Improving Safety on Weaver Street at the St. John & Paul School
Mr. Byrnes request is for crosswalks on Weaver Street outside
Saint John and Paul's Church and School. The crosswalks should be
on Weaver Street and Heather Lane, also Weaver Street and Maple
Hill Drive. Mr. Lobl made the motion for the crosswalks and the
Board seconded the motion and it was carried.
Murray Avenue/Echo Lane and Hillside Road
Mr. Lobl suggested that the Committee revisit the area, and to have
Allan Davis' Proposal #3 and 6-15-93 minutes be reviewed. The
Committee decided to have this issue deferred to the next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
Traffic Control - Boston Post Road/Dillion Road (new CVS/Staples
Shopping Area)
Mrs. Phyllis Wittner is requesting better traffic control at the
Boston Post Road/Dillion Road Traffic Light. Mrs. Wittner concerns
are for vehicles proceeding east on the Post Road who want to make
a left turn from the Post Road into Dillion Road. Mrs. Wittner is
also concerned with vehicles that are confronted upon exiting the
shopping center (right hand lane) with an enormous pothole at the
end of the driveway but on Boston Post Road. In addition, Mrs.
Wittner's concerns are another site that warrants attention is that
of High Tech Car Wash. Left turns across the Post Road are very
dangerous at that busy site, and the hazard has been exacerbated by
the creation of the shopping center next door.
Parking Request: Apartment Resident - Richbell Road
The resident at Richbell Road has a disabled son, and they are
requesting overnight parking for their son's nurse. Richard Mari
will following up this situation.
Request: Parking Variance - Corner of Alden Road/Harmony Road
Felix Carcano of 272 Wayman Ave, New Rochelle, a member of the Town
Volunteer Fire Department represented Michael J. Acocella, Second
Deputy Chief. His request was to have a closer parking spot outside
of his home on Alden Road so that he could respond quickly in the
event of a fire in the Town.
The Committe approved of this decision, and will forward
recommendations to the Town Board.
Request: Sign - Madison Ave
Residents that live on Madison Ave are requesting a location sign.
David Lobl made a motion to post a street sign to the Board. The
Board agreed with the motion.
Request: Prohibition Left Hand Turns 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Weaver
Street
The Traffic Committee requested that a sign stating "DO NOT BLOCK
DRIVEWAY,' be placed before Chemical Bank on Weaver Street. This
recommendation will go to the Town Board.
Meeting adjourned at 9:30pm
