A._ '' TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 2002 A regular meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held on September 17,2002,in the Senior Center at Mamaroneck Town Center located at 740 West Boston Post Road,Mamaroneck, New York, 10543. Members Present: David Lobl, Chairman Judith Myers Councilwoman Nancy Angiulo Richard Mad Donald Derrico Camille Odiema Pincus Leitner Roz Weinstein Others Present: Stephen Altieri Lt.John Anderson Town Administrator Town of Mamaroneck Police Dept. Old Business: 1. Approval of Minutes for June 25, 2002. Approved. 2. Mr. Gere of 40 North Chatsworth Avenue— No Parking Zone. The Traffic Committee stands by original recommendation of 6 ft.on each side of curb cut. Relay this to the Town Board. Notify Mr.Gere when and if this matter is discussed by the Town Board. New Business 1. Correspondence from Mr. Robert Brisette —42 Hillcrest Avenue. a. Intersection of Judson Street and Edgewood Avenue. Mr. Brisette appeared before the Committee to discuss his concerns as outlined in his letter of July 11, 2002. Recommendation of the Traffic Committee is to move the current stop sign on Edgewood near Judson closer to the actual intersection. The Committee also asked that the Town Highway Department review the usual obstruction,that may exist due to the hedges at that location. b. Myrtle Boulevard/Preston Avenue. Mr.Brisette stated that he was in opposition to the left turn prohibition onto Preston Street. The details of his concern are outlined in his July 11,2002,letter. The Traffic Committee believed that the"No Left Turn"ordinance should remain in effect at this time. 2. Letter from Ms. Lorraine Killheffer Carlton House Apartments. Mr.Killheffer appeared before the Committee to discuss the concerns raised in their July 17,2002 letter. The issue is the parking of cars near the Carlton House driveway of Madison Avenue recommendation to the Town Board. Establish a "No Parking Beyond This Point" beginning at the "Do Not Enter" sign on both sides of Madison Avenue at the intersection of Madison Avenue and the Carlton House Driveway. 3. Letter from Ms. Ruth Campanelli —7 Barnum Road. Re: Intersection of Madison Avenue 1-95, and New Jefferson Street. Mrs. Campanelli appeared and the Town Administrator advised the Committee that this interaction is the subject of a DEIS currently being prepared by Forest City Daly in connection with a prepared zoning amendment. Mrs.Campanelli appeared to raise a concern regarding the visual obstruction at East Garden Road and Brookside Drive—The Traffic Committee asked that the Highway Department investigate this matter. C:1My Documents\Traffic\Minutes 9-17-02.doc 4. Letter of Mr. Vincent Morrone 247 Murray Avenue. Re: Speed bumps on Murray Avenue. The Traffic Committee reviewed the letter. The Town Administrator advised the Committee that the Village of Pelham has not found the speed bumps on Pelhamdale Road to be effective. The Committee's decision was to not recommend speed bumps on Murray Avenue. 5. Letter of Mr. Vincent Cinotti - 2 Harmony Drive. Re: Illegally parked vehicles on Harmony Drive. The Committee reviewed the letter and determined that parking enforcement is necessary. Due to the shortage of parking the Committee did not feel that the"no parking zone"as delineated in the letter was necessary. Existing no parking zones were sufficient. Lt.Anderson indicated that the Police Department would provide further parking enforcement in the area. (Send letter to Cinotti). 6. Letter from Ms. Maureen LeBlanc - 10 Overlook Terrace. Re: Pedestrian safety on Edgewood Avenue. Mr. Lobel of 87 Edgewood Avenue appeared before the Committee to discuss Ms. LeBlanc's letter. The Traffic Committee deferred this matter to the Town Board because of the request for capital sidewalk construction. The Town Administrator advised the Committee that the rosebush mentioned in Ms. LeBlanc's letter has been removed. The next scheduled Traffic Committee meeting will be held on October 22, 2002.
