Others Present:

Town of Mamaroneck Police Dept.
Committee Business:
Approval of Minutes for June 26, 2001.
1. Correspondence from Karen Germani re: Request for stop sign at corner of Plymouth Road
and Winthrop Avenue.
- Karen Germani, Sal Iacono, Howard Bunta and Christopher Sardos spoke of the need for measures
to slow traffic flowing from Weaver Street to the Boston Post Road. It was the feeling of some
members of the Committee that a stop sign was not appropriate for that corner since it was not an
intersection where there were vehicles meeting, crossing or turning. Since there were not enough
Committee members present to have a valid quorum for a vote, the matter was deferred to the next
meeting. The residents also expressed(1)the need to clear shrubbery partially masking the signs at
the entrance to Plymouth Road and (2)the possibility that the"No Parking Here To Corner"sign on
Winthrop needs to be repositioned further back from the corner near the Boston Post Road and (3)
that parking be moved to the other side of the street to provide better visibility to turning vehicles of
pedestrians in the road because of the lack of sidewalks.
2. Correspondence from Karen Corrigan re: Signage for Sts. John &Paul Church.
- Karen Corrigan presented the new sign proposed for installation on the school's property on Weaver
Street. Richard Mari made a motion to accept the Sts. John & Paul School sign and its proposed
location as presented. Seconded by Roz Weinstein and approved unanimously by the Committee.
3. Correspondence from Diana Bisotti re: Illegal parking and traffic speeding and cutting
through Burton Road.
- The Committee felt that only action by the apartment buildings' landlord could restrict the flow of
traffic from Burton Road through the parking lot to the Boston Post Road. As to cars illegally parked
outside the allowed area in front of#10 Burton Road and blocking that driveway, as well as others,

possible remedies included (1) move obvious markings on the road, (2) increased enforcement with
assistance of residents calling Police Department about violators, and (3) consideration of moving
the allowed spaces to the opposite side of the street. There was concern expressed that this move
would open a straighter lane on the road and allow vehicles to move more quickly. further
consideration of this proposal is needed.
4. Correspondence from C. J. Drosins re: encroaching cars along Carlton House property near
Fifth Avenue exit from parking area.
No representative from Carlton House was present. Additional input needed as to where the limits of
the Carlton House property are so that the proper placement of a sign and/or painting of lines can be
evaluated by the Committee. Deferred pending further input from C.J. Drosins.
The next scheduled Traffic Committee meeting will be held on November 27, 2001.
