HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009_10_27 Traffic Committee Minutes TOWN OF MAMARONECK TRAFFIC COMMITTEE The Town of Mamaroneck MEETING MINUTES - October 27, 2009 wi fM•amarcneck.org A regular meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held on October 27, 2009, in the Courtroom at The Mamaroneck Town Center located at 740 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY. Members Present: Others Present: Doris Shaw Block, Chair David Fishman -Town Council William Zalenka Stephen V. Altieri, Town Administrator Camille Odierna Michael Cindrich, Police Department Nancy Angiulo Barbara Spiridon Members Absent: Michael Harrington Donald Sutherland Old Business: 1. Approval of Minutes: June 23, 2009. Approved. 2. Correspondence-Camela Morrissey re: Edgewood Avenue.-Michael Cindrich reported that we were unable to borrow a speed machine from Westchester County due to other commitments. The police did post Police Officers with hand held radar. No evidence of many speeders. Discussion of parking on Preston Street to eliminate parking by commuters. Recommendations of the Committee: • Install new speed limit sign near Weaver Street. • No Parking 6:00 am to 10:00 am - Monday through Friday except holidays. • Will confirm to Mrs. Morrissey. 3. Correspondence-Ms. Baylor re: 1-95 Signs. - This matter was brought to the attention of the Traffic Committee to advise. Matter is resolved. New Business: 1 . Truck Traffic on Harmon Drive. The Traffic Committee reviewed this matter and its implications. Truck restriction will improve safety at Weaver and Harmon because it is difficult for the trucks to negotiate the turn at the intersection. Recommendation - Defer the matter to November. Attempt to survey the number and size of the trucks using Harmon drive. 2. Correspondence- Paulene Greeman & Peter Brush re: Traffic& Parking on Chester Place & Moran Place. The Traffic Committee focused on two issues: Safe access to the streets and available parking to the residents. The Traffic Committee decided to defer the matter to November. The Town Administrator will have the Fire Chief inspect the street. E-mail residents to advise them of action and encourage them to attend the next meeting. 3. Traffic Calming Guidelines. The Traffic Committee was generally in favor of the manual. The Traffic Committee will review the manual and comment upon it. Have the staff review and comment; find out if New Rochelle has any speed bumps. Next scheduled traffic Committee Meeting - November 17, 2009
