Tuesday, October 17,2000 A regular meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held on October 17, 2000 in the Senior Center at Mamaroneck Town Center located at 740 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck,New York, 10543 Members Present: David Lobl Camille Odierna Nancy Angiulo Richard Mari Members Absent: Rosalind Weinstein Pincus Leitner Donald Derrico Lt. John Anderson TOM Police Department Others Present: Stephen V. Altieri TOM Town Administrator Judith A. Myers TOM Town Board Committee Business: Approval of Minutes of September 12,2000. 1. Correspondence from Harald Due11 dated September 11,2000, re: Lower speed limit to 20 mph. - Consideration by the Committee. Residents of the area appeared before the Committee. The concern is over speeding cars and increasing traffic on Dillon Road. The Committee's consensus was to reduce the speed limit on Dillon Road, Chester Place, Parkland Road, Locust Terrace and Edgewater Road to 25 mph. However,the Committee requested that the Town Attorney review this proposal and report back to the Committee in November. The Town Police Department will review the installation of cautionary signage on Dillon Road and report at the next meeting. Police department will consider signage such as "Road Narrows" or"Slow Dangerous Curve". Notify residents at next meeting. 2. Correspondence from Ruth Campanelli dated September 12,2000, re: Overnight parking on Barnum Road. Letter to Ruth Campanelli re: parking on both sides of Barnum Road. Problem of access C:\My Documents\Traffic\Minutes 10-17-00.doc at fire apparatus. Have Fire Department check street and place this matter on the next agenda. 3. Correspondence from Donald LaSala dated September 12, 2000, re: parking on Washington Square. - The Committee reviewed a letter from Mr. Donald LaSala regarding parking on Washington Square. Mr. La Sala expresses a concern with parking 24 hours a day on the east side of Washington Square. After discussion by members of the Committee it was decided that the Fire Department will review this matter and report back to the Committee at their next meeting. 4. Correspondence (via E-mail) from Marie Venezia dated September 28, 2000, re: Speed and volume of traffic at Carriage House Lane and Well House Lane. - The Committee reviewed a letter from Marie Venezia. Ms. Venezia is concerned with traffic traveling on Carriage House Lane and Wellhouse Close as a bypass for Griffin Avenue. The Committee determined that at this time there is no further action to take on this matter. Stop signs do exist at the intersection of Carriage House Lane and Wellhouse Close to control traffic. 5. & 6.Correspondence from Matthew Berke & Dr. Staci Pollack dated July 24,2000, re: Blind curve at Knollwood and Highwood. Requests a"Slow—Children at Play" Sign and; Correspondence from Residents of Spruce Road dated October 10, 2000, re: Speeding on Spruce Road. Requests a"Slow Children at Play" sign also. - The Committee followed its long-standing practice of not installing this type of sign in the Town.
