TOWN OF MAMARONECK-TRAFFIC COMMITTEE

OLD BUSINESS:
1 . Approval of the Traffic Committee Minutes: September 18th 2007.
2. Correspondence dated August 7 & 14, 2007, to & from Paula G. A. Ryan to Supervisor
Valerie Moore O'Keeffe re: Daytime Parking Restrictions on Edgewood Avenue. Ms. Ryan states that
circumstances necessitate parking in front of her house. Requests parking decals for residents.
Supervisor O'Keefe responded that the Town of Mamaroneck has petitioned New York State
Legislature to allow the Washington Square Neighborhood designated "residents only" parking. The
Traffic Committee will review Ms. Ryan's request.
3. Documents relating to a discussion of: Policy & General Provisions related to
Overnight Parking Exemption.
(Items#2  were deferred from the meeting of September 18th 2007).
NEW BUSINESS:
1 . Letter from "Concerned Residents of Myrtle Boulevard dated September 28th2007, re:
Speeding on Myrtle Boulevard in 25mph zone & traffic congestion during rush hours. Requests are
for a stop sign on the corner of Myrtle Boulevard & Preston Street & eliminate the "no left turn from
4:30 - 7:30 "sign from Myrtle Boulevard to Preston Street. They also request two speed bumps & a
police speed check for two weeks during rush hour.
2. E-mail from Lisa Young dated October 9, 2007, to Administrator Altieri & Supervisor
O'Keeffe re: The intersection of Chatsworth Avenue, Myrtle Boulevard & Murray Avenue. Ms. Young
and her neighbors would like to attend the meeting and discuss possible resolutions to the traffic &
pedestrian safety.
3. E-mail from Brian Lobel dated October 1 , 2007, to Councilman Fishman re:
Improvements for traffic & pedestrian crossing at Edgewood & N. Chatsworth Avenues & Edgewood
& Murray Avenues. Mr. Lobel feels that the construction of the parking deck & the enhanced
business & residential space will create even more traffic. He also states that there needs to be
signage or signaling or crosswalks at the intersection of Murray, Edgewood & Hillside Avenues &
crosswalks placed at across Murray Avenue at the intersection.

A regular meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held on October 16, 2007, in the
Courtroom at The Mamaroneck Town Center located at 740 W. Boston Post Rd. Mamaroneck, NY.
Members Present:
David Lobl — Chairman, Kathy DeVore, Camille Odierna, Donald Sutherland, Mike Harrington & Doris Shaw.
Members Absent
Nancy Angiulo
Others Present:
Valerie Moore O'Keeffe —Town Supervisor, Stephen V. Altieri — Town Administrator, David Fishman —
Town Council & Lt. Michael Cindrich — Police Department.
Old Business:
Approval of Minutes— September, 18, 2007.
New Business:
1. Intersection of Murray, Myrtle & North Chatsworth. Lisa Young appeared before the Committee to
express concerns regarding same. Her concerns were:
a. No Left Turn on Myrtle Boulevard
b. Waiting for two cycles for walk the signal
Brian Lobel commented upon developing a line of communication between the Police Department and the
Traffic Committee to consider recommendations to improve the intersection. Lt. Cindrich updated the
Committee on the selective enforcement efforts in Washington Square.
Cathy Hagerty of Chatsworth Gardens - Expressed concern over the traffic on Murray Avenue. She
indicated that the traffic travels too fast on Murray Avenue. She also suggested that additional speed limit
signal be installed on Murray between Maple Hill Drive and Myrtle Boulevard.
Set up a meeting with Phil Cimino and the Traffic Committee. Come up with three figures with Phil and
communicate those times to the Traffic Committee. Place this topic on the November agenda.
Residents -Myrtle Boulevard re: Speeding. Joe Merigliano of Myrtle Boulevard represented several
residents, suggesting the installation of a stop sign on Myrtle Boulevard at Preston Street. He also
suggests eliminating the "No Left Turn" at Preston Street. Lt. Cindrich will plan upgraded speed
enforcement.
The Traffic Committee reconvened to the Town Board by a vote of 4 to 1 to rescind the"No Left Turn"on
Preston Street.
2. Correspondence — Brian Lobel re: Pedestrian Crosswalk at Edgewood and Murray Avenue.
The recommendation was to install a limited role distance sign with a Ir- symbol. Check the street
lighting at Edgewood Avenue and Murray Avenue.
