Minutes
Tuesday, October 11, 2005
A regular meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held on October
11, 2005 in the Senior Center at the Mamaroneck Town Center located at 740 West
Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck,New York 01543.
Members Present:
David Lobl
Camille Odierna
Ron Meister
Others Present:
Paul Winick, Town Board Liaison
Mary Stanton, Assistant to the Town Administrator
Since attendance did not constitute a quorum all matters were continued to the November
meeting.
Old Business:
1. Correspondence from Ruth Campanelli dated June 29, 2005, re: Falls Road,
Cooper Lane and Brookside Drive intersection. Ms. Campanelli expressed
concerns about speeding cars at this area. Requests "Yield"or"Stop" signage
there.
Ms. Campanelli attended the meeting and requested a yield sign on top of Falls
Road. Other options were discussed including a stop sign on Cooper Lane and
compelling the resident on the corner of Cooper Lane to cut back his hedge.
The matter was deferred to the November agenda. The Committee will revisit the
site.
2. Parking on Cooper Lane at the entrance of Sts. John and Paul, re: Vehicles
parking on the house side of Cooper Lane, coming from Weaver Street at the
bend in the road. The Traffic Committee revisited the site to determine the degree
of the parking restriction to be recommended on Cooper Lane.
The matter was deferred to the November agenda
New Business
1. Correspondence to Administrator Altieri from Bruce Weinstein dated September
2, 2005, re: Stop signs at the Hickory Grove and Rocky Road intersection. Mr.
Weinstein states that a third stop sign is needed at the remaining corner,as his
vehicle has been hit 5 times by cars heading south at excess speeds up the hill of
Hickory Grove or turning onto Rocky Road. Believes the safety of pedestrians
and pets is in question.
Mr. Weinstein did not attend the meeting. The matter was deferred to the
November agenda.
2. E-mail to Administrator Altieri from Susan Chateauvert dated October 4, 2005,
re: Parking for Elkan Road residents. She states that the available parking at
Central School is not convenient,and that it is illegal to park at the Elkan Road
dead end—which holds approximately three cares ---from 3:00 AM to 6:00 AM.
Ms. Chateauvert suggests making use of the dead end for legal/all night parking
spaces.
Ms. Chateauvert and neighbors Mr. and Mrs. McGinnity attended They
maintained that parking at the dead end would not interfere with snow plowing.
Committee is waiting for the requested reports from the Town. The matter was
deferred to the November agenda. Elkan Road residents will be noticed for the
November meeting.
3. E-mail to secretary to the Town Administrator from Eliza Kelly dated October 5,
2005,re: request for a stop sign at the corner of Lakeside Drive and Rocky Road.
Ms. Kelly states that vehicles coming down Rocky Road and turning right onto
Lakeside Drive frequently speed and suggests signage at this location.
The matter was deferred to the November agenda.
The Next Traffic Committee Meeting is scheduled for November 15,2005.
