Tuesday, May 3, 2004
A meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held on Tuesday May 3, 2004, in Conference
Room A at the Mamaroneck Town Center at 740 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY.
Members Present:
David Lobl, Chairman,Richard Mari, Nancy Angiulo, Camille Odierna & Ronald Meister.
Others Present:
Stephen Altieri - Town Administrator
Old Business:
1. Correspondence from Cathy DeVore- Installation of stop sign on Locust Ridge at Glen Eagles Drive.
Recommendation is to install the stop sign on Locust Ridge at Glen Eagles Drive.
2. Correspondence of Karen Paul. Re: Forest and North Chatsworth. No action. Police indicated that
there is no speeding at this location.
New Business:
1. Letters from Curbie& Darren Cohen. The Cohens expressed concern about commuters parking on Edgewood
Avenue near Preston Street. Mr. Cohen spoke before the Committee on this matter. Members of the Committee
expressed concern over the lack of parking at the train station and that there are no alternatives for people
needing to access the train station. Matter deferred to next meeting. Members of the Committee will consider
alternatives. Mr. Cohen will also provide additional information. Send agenda notice to Mr. Cohen.
2. Correspondence- Laura Jofre. Crosswalk on Palmer Avenue at Blossom Terrace. Mr. Jofre appeared before
the Committee to present her concerns regarding pedestrian crossing at Palmer Avenue and Blossom Terrace.
Police Department expressed concern that a crosswalk without adult supervision at that location is dangerous.
Evaluate sidewalk construction from Blossom Terrace to Richbell Road.
3. Correspondence - Susan Mendelsohn. West Garden Road traffic issues. Eric Sundin and Mr. Mendelsohn
appeared before the Committee. Concern is that traffic is speeding on the street. Committee members
discussed various alternatives to address this issue. The Committee recommended the following installation of
four stop signs.
a. On West Garden Road at Mardon Road going towards the brook.
b. On Mardon Road at West Garden Road.
c. On Clover Street at West Garden Road.
d. On West Garden at Clover going towards Weaver Street.
4. Correspondence re: Winged Foot Drive. Concern with that end of Winged Foot Drive near Dundee Road.
The road of this location is windy. With cars parking in this area cars are forced to cross the double yellow
line. Recommendation is to establish no parking zone on home side of Winged Foot Drive from Dundee
Road to conservation area.
Next Meeting -Tuesday, June 28th in the Courtroom.
