HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004_03_23 Traffic Committee Minutes TOWN OF MAMARONECK TRAFFIC COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes t Tuesday, March 23, 2004 A regular meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held on March 23, 2004, in the Senior Center at Mamaroneck Town Center located at 740 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, New York, 10543. Members Present: David Lobl,Chairman Nancy Angiulo Roz Weinstein Richard Mari Ronald Meister Others Present: Judith Myers - Councilwoman Stephen Altieri - Town Administrator John Redmond - Town of Mamaroneck Police Dept. Old Business: 1. Approval of Minutes for January 13, 2004. On motion by Committee member Meister and second by Committee member Mari,the minutes of January 13, 2004,were unanimously approved. New Business 1. Correspondence dated August 4, 2002 from Margaret Mirabella. The Traffic Committee reviewed the correspondence of Margaret Mirabella in connection with the crosswalk on Palmer Avenue at Central School. Mr. Michael Mirabella appeared before the Committee to discuss this matter. The Town Administrator indicated that any changes to the traffic control devices at that location would require the approval of the Westchester County Department of Public Works because Palmer Avenue is a County road. After further discussion the Traffic Committee asked that the following action be taken in regard to this matter. The Traffic Committee would like the flashing warning lights on Palmer Avenue near Central School to be reactivated and that the crosswalk at Central School be repainted with a crisscross pattern. The Town Administrator indicated that he would follow up with the County. 2. Correspondence from George Poline, dated November d 21, on behalf re: a his gte2423 t BoEatston Rice Post Road . Mr. George Poline,the owner of 2423 Boston Post Restaurant to ask that either one half hour or one hour parking be provided in front of the building. Members of the Committee expressed various opinions in connection with this matter. There is some concern that half hour or one hour parking would be an inconvenience for other retail outlets and residents on Boston Post Road. After further consideration the Committee offered the following recommendation to the Town Board. The recommendation is that a three hour parking 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.Monday through Friday ordinance be established on the south side of Boston Post Road between Dillon Road and the Larchmont Diner. 3. Correspondence from Patricia Konvalinka, re: Ms. Konvalinka wrote to the Traffic Committee and expressed concern with respect to traffic speeding on Washington Square. Her letter indicated that vehicles use Washington Square as a short cut to the 1-95 entrance ramp.. She requests a speed bump to slow traffic on Washington Square. The Traffic Committee decided that a speed bump was not in order at this location. It has been the Committee's practice not to recommend the use of speed bumps for speed control. The Town Administrator was directed to notify Ms. Konvalinka of the Traffic Committee's decision. The next scheduled Traffic Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday,April 27, 2004
