HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009_06_23 Traffic Committee Minutes TOWN OF MAMARONECK TRAFFIC COMMITTEE .t.\, The Town of Mamaroneck MEETING MINUTES —June 23, 2009 www_TownotMamaroneck.ors A regular meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held on June 23, 2009, in the " Courtroom at The Mamaroneck Town Center located at 740 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY. Members Present: Doris Shaw Block, Chair Camille Odierna William Zalenka Nancy Angiulo Barbara Spiridon Mike Harrington Donald Sutherland Members Absent Others Present: David Fishman, Town Council Stephen V. Altieri, Town Administrator Michael Cindrich, Police Department Old Business: None. New Business: 1 . No Parking Zone — Maxwell Avenue. Traffic Committee reviewed memorandum from Town Administrator requesting a no parking zone on the east side of Maxwell Avenue. After discussion, the Traffic Committee unanimously approved. 2. Correspondence— Mr. & Mrs. Braff; speed on Griffen Avenue. Mr. Braff appeared before the Committee to discuss their concerns. Mrs. Braff proposed installation of three stop signs on the street. The Traffic Committee explained that it is not the Town's policy to use stop signs to slow down traffic. The Police Department will look into more selective enforcement. Possible joint program with Scarsdale after repaving is completed. The Police Department to obtain from Westchester County a speed monitor machine to be installed. 3. Correspondence—Camela Morrissey re: Speed on Edgewood Avenue. Ms.Morrissey appeared before the Committee to discuss this item. Resident suggestions included: a) Speed Bumps. b) More speed enforcement. The Traffic Committee will consider the impact. Place on September agenda. Install speed limit signs on Edgewood Firehouse side of road. c) Closing Preston Street. Resident also called issue of commuter parking on Preston Avenue. The Traffic Committee discussed establishing a 3-hr parking limit from 8:00am — 5:00pm Monday— Friday. 4. Correspondence —John Lawler re: Speed on Valley and Glen Road. Lt. Cindrich reported that on average, automobiles are traveling at 30 mph. E-mail Mr. Lawler. 5. Correspondence Stephen Scheller re: Virtual obstruction —Washington Square at 17 North Chatsworth Avenue. Lt. Cindrich asked to defer this to the September agenda and incorporate into a comprehensive review. Contact Mr. Scheller. Next scheduled Traffic Committee Meeting— September 15, 2009
