Old Business:
1. Approval of Minutes for May 27,2003.
On motion by Committee member Derrico and second by Committee member Weinstein, the minutes of
May 27th were unanimously approved.
New Business
1. Signage at Intersection of 1-95 ramp, Madison & New Jefferson Street.
This item was brought to the Committee by David Lobl. His concern is that the signage at the referenced
intersection is not sufficient to identify the location of New Jefferson Street and North Chatsworth Avenue.
After discussion by members of the Committee, the Town Administrator indicated that the Highway
Department would review this matter and contact the Thruway Authority..
2. Letter from Edie Reidy—Re: Ferndale Shopping Center—Weaver Street Entrance.
Edie Reidy appeared before the Committee to express her concern with respect to the traffic exiting the
Ferndale Shopping Center onto Weaver Street. In addition, other residents appeared before the Committee
to express similar concerns. The problem appears to be those motorists that are violating the no left turn
prohibition at the Shopping Center exit.
Lt.John Anderson was questioned as to the accident history for this intersection. Lt.Anderson indicated that
there have been three accidents per year for the last three years. After further discussion, the Committee
made the following recommendation. The Committee requested that the Town Administrator contact the
owner of the Ferndale Shopping Center and work to develop a physical barrier that would prevent left turn
movements out of the Shopping Center onto Weaver Street. In addition, the signage would be reviewed and
a right turn only sign would be added if one now does not exist at that location.

The matter will be placed back on the Traffic Committee's agenda in September, and the residents on
Plymouth Road and the lower reaches of Weaver Street will be notified of the meeting.
Mr. Douglas Eglinton of 27 Weaver Street appeared and also raised concerns about the delivery trucks that
use the Weaver Street access to the Ferndale Shopping Center. According to Mr. Eglinton trucks are
prohibited from using that access as per the original site plan approval. The Town Administrator indicated
that the site plan approval conditions will be reviewed and if such a prohibition exists, the owner of the
Shopping Center and Stop and Shop will be notified immediately.
Other Items
1. Nancy Angiulo requested that signage be installed on Weaver Street at Laurel Avenue and Harmon Drive
reminding motorists on Weaver Street to not block access to these streets.
2. Richard Mari requested that the no parking here to corner signs on Edgewood Avenue and Murray Avenue
on the Emerson Road side of Edgewood be moved back towards Emerson Road.
3. The Town Administrator presented to the Committee the proposed designs for the improvements to the
intersection of Myrtle Boulevard and North Chatsworth Avenue. The Administrator reviewed with the
Committee the proposed median construction on Myrtle Boulevard and the proposed changes to the traffic
signals on Myrtle Boulevard and North Chatsworth Avenue. The Committee approved of the design plans.
The next scheduled Traffic Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2003
