HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002_01_08 Traffic Committee Minutes 0 c93 �y„ TOWN OF MAMARONECK TRAFFIC COMMITTEE o o m MEETING MINUTES W r., t g, ~fOUNDFD1661 P• c TUESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2002 A regular meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held on January 8, 2002, in the Senior Center at Mamaroneck Town Center located at 740 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, New York, 10543. Members Present: David Lobl, Chairman Pincus Leitner Richard Mari Nancy Angiulo Donald Derrico Judith Myers—Councilwoman Stephen Altieri —Town Administrator Others Present: Lt. John Anderson -Town of Mamaroneck Police Dept. Committee Business: 1. Approval of Minutes for November 27, 2001. 2. Parking on Edgewood Avenue. The issue is commuter parking on Edgewood Avenue. Lt. John Anderson provided a list identifying home towns of cars parked on the street. Sheldon Hoffman of 65 Edgewood Avenue appeared and expressed concern that the road was becoming a commuter parking lot. The Chairman noted that the Committee received a letter from Mr. Ned Ryan of 52 Edgewood Avenue in opposition to any parking restriction on Edgewood Avenue. The Committee entered into a discussion of the issue. Proposals discussed on various parking limitations on the street. After discussion, the following recommendation will be made to the Town Board: No Parking — 10:00 a.m. — 11:00 a.m. Monday—Friday Except Holidays. North Side of Edgewood — Judson to North Chatsworth. No Parking —2:00 — 3:00 p.m. Monday— Friday Except Holidays. West Side of Edgewood Avenue— Judson to North Chatsworth Motion by David Lobl —second by Pincus Leitner. Unanimously approved. The Chairman then addressed those residents that wished to continue discussion of other traffic issues. C 1My Documents\Traffic\Minutes 1-8-02.doc - Consideration of a bicycle lane type arrangement for Edgewood Avenue. Question raised however, that the zone may be unproductive and not a good substitute for a sidewalk. - Also, there was discussion of the installation of a stop sign on Edgewood Avenue at Overlook. Committee felt strongly that a stop sign to slow down traffic was not a good idea. 3. Request of Richard Gere—40 North Chatsworth regarding a No Parking Zone at Driveway. - Mr. Gere appeared before the Committee and explained the visibility problem when he is exiting his driveway. 4. Recommendation— Establish "No Parking Between Signs". - From utility pole on north side of driveway to an equal distance on the south side of the driveway. Zebra stripes to be installed as well. New Business 1. Request of Mr. Klepper— 1 Washington Square. Traffic Committee said no because of Fire Department needs. Fire Department did not want parking on the north side of the street. 2. Memorandum of Nancy Angiulo. Re: Installation of hanging lane. Designation signs. Report to Committee at the next meeting.
