TOWN OF MAMARONECK TRAFFIC COMMITTEE • FOUNDED1661 - Meeting Minutes Tuesday, January 18, 2000 4 A regular meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held on January 18, 2000 in the Senior Center at Mamaroneck Town Center located at 740 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, New York, 10543. The meeting was called to order at 8:07 p.m. Members Present: Pincus Leitner David Lobl, Chairman Richard Mari Camille Odierna Rosilind Weinstein Members Absent: Nancy Angiulo Donald G. Myers TOM Liaison Patty Pirro Present to Discuss Poor Visibility Upon Egress of Mamaroneck Gardenss Parking Lots James Wendt Present to Discuss Poor Visibility Upon Egress of Mamaroneck Gardenss Parking Lots Approval of Minutes: The minutes from November 30, 1999 were approved on a motion from D. Lobl, seconded by R. Mari. Committee Business: 1. Correspondence from Margarethe Daly dated November 15, 1999; RE: Request for removal of signage and yellow line to be carried through intersection of Hickory Grove and Rocky Road Traffic Committee-1/18/00 Pg.1 • - The Commission discussed the possibility of replacing the yield sign with a stop sign. On a motion by D. Lobl seconded by P. Leitner, the Committee unanimously approved the replacement of the yield sign at this intersection with a stop sign. - A discussion ensued regarding the continuation of the road striping through this intersection using cat tracks. The Committee agreed that the matter of continuing the road striping through the intersection should be investigated further and postponed for future consideration. 2. Correspondence from Helen Lowenstein dated October 4, 1999; RE: Congestion at Hommocks and Boston Post Road and at Weaver and Palmer - The Committee stated that it agrees with Ms. Lowenstein. - J. Myers stated that the Town Board is aware of this matter and considers it a high priority issue. She also stated that although it appears to be progressing slowly, the Board is attempting to coordinate efforts with NYS to alleviate the situation. 3. Correspondence from James Wendt dated December 8, 1999; RE: Poor visibility when leaving Richbell Road parking lot - The Committee stated that part of this complex and one of the entrances is in the Village of Mamaroneck. The Committee also stated that it is aware of the difficult parking situation in this area and much time and resources have been devoted to this issue throughout the years. - A discussion ensued and J. Wendt, P. Pirro and I. Charf agreed to meet with R. Mari and walk through this area and have a detailed discussion regarding where improvements may be implemented. This matter will be subject for further review after this meeting takes place. 4. Correspondence from Ruth Campanelli dated December 22, 1999; RE: Various visibility issues in the Larchmont Gardens area - R. Campanelli stated that she had expressed these concerns at a previous meeting of the Traffic Committee. - D. Lobl stated that the Committee agreed with Ms. Campanelli's visibility concerns and these areas have been recommended to the Town for maintenance. The Committee further expressed interest in the Town devoting resources toward remedying these visibility issues in the spring, once the bushes and trees leaf out. 5. Memorandum from David Lobl dated November 2, 1999; RE: Street light out from Metro North Tunnel to Myrtle Boulevard and the addition of additional Bee Line Bus at the Hommocks at dismissal time Traffic Committee-1/18100 Pg.2 - D. Lobl stated that the light is now functioning. - J. Myers stated that at one time Bee Line had considered eliminating this bus route entirely, therefore it is unlikely that a second bus would be added. 6. Correspondence from Marilyn S. Reader dated December 13, 1999; RE: implementation of signage and parking measures - S. Altieri stated that the Planning Board simply wanted to confirm that the Traffic Committee is aware of the traffic recommendations resulting from the Carton House amendment review. - The Committee stated that it is aware of the recommendations and supports them. 7. January 12, 2000 memorandum; RE: Complaint from Joeseph McElhinney about hazardous parking at Murray and Edgewood near train station - requesting additional signage and removal of maple tree - After a brief discussion, the Committee agreed that the parked cars and the tree may present a hazard. The Committee stated that this matter should be investigated further and discussed at a future meeting of the Traffic Committee. Member Reports - R. Mari stated that the street light outside of the Stop and Shop driveway on Weaver street has a very short arm that comes out from the pole. This light illuminates the corner, however the driveway is very dimly lit. Committee members agreed. - The Committee agreed upon the following meeting dates for 2000: February 29 March 28 April 25 May 23 June 27 September 12 October 17 November 21 December 19 The meeting was adjourned at 9:18 p.m. The next scheduled Traffic Committee meeting will be held on February 29, 2000, Traffic Committee-1/18/00 Pg.3
