1. Correspondence: Jacqueline Merenda — Handicapped Parking on Palmer Avenue
Ms. Merenda appeared before the committee to request the designation of a
handicapped parking space near the Mamaroneck Gardens Apartments on
Palmer Avenue near the High School exit driveway. Her request is based upon a
need to have a space to park when she is transporting her husband to physical
therapy.
Ms. Merenda was advised that anyone with an appropriate handicapped permit
can utilize the space which will be counterproductive to her needs. Therefore as
an alternative the designation of a loading zone may be preferable since the
zone will not allow longer term parking.
2. Correspondence: Mr. Harold Moss — Speed on Weaver Street
Mr. Moss wrote to the Committee expressing concern about speeding cars on
Weaver St. particularly between 7:00pm and 8:00pm. He is also requesting a
traffic signal at Rockland Avenue and Weaver St.
The Police Department is conducting speed enforcement on Weaver St. and
experiencing some success in slowing traffic along the roadway.
With respect to the request for the traffic signal, it appears there are insufficient
traffic warrants to justify a signal at that location.
3. Correspondence: Lisa Poccia-Kmetz — Bus Stops at Murray Avenue School
Ms. Kmetz contends that the long bus stops on Daymon Terrace are not
necessary and should be shortened to increase parking at the school. This item
will be researched further.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 28, 2006
