Michael Cindrich,Police Department Phil Cimino,Engineer Old Business: Intersection of Murray, Myrtle and North Chatsworth Meeting of both Committees The purpose of the joint meeting was to address the problems raised by a number of residents,by mail, email and in person at the meeting in regard to traffic at the above intersections. The problems raised included: l)back up on Chatsworth Avenue due to no longer allowing left turn on red light at Myrtle Blvd; 2) back up due to two cycles allowed for walk signals on Chatsworth/Myrtle; 3) back-up due to timing of traffic lights on Murray/Myrtle/North Chatsworth; 4)confusion caused by Murray Ave and Myrtle Blvd. traffic lane signs on Myrtle Blvd.just before the bridge; 5)backup into town because of all of these problems and difficulty getting over bridge. Discussion was held on all of these issues. Mr. Cimino explained that much research and work was put into the present configuration. He stated that the problems are exacerbated by the Con Ed work which has rendered sensors inoperable that would increase traffic flow at the intersections. These sensors will become operable once the Con Ed work is finished. One suggestion that was made by a resident was to put a red right turn arrow at the corner of Chatsworth and Myrtle, forbidding a right turn during the walk cycles; the light would go out when the crossing time was over, and cars would then be allowed to make a right on red. Such a red arrow signal is used in Yonkers. °° / G)15/il C 1 ,w r 1 , It was decided not to make any changes now at these intersections, but to wait for the C''~c,,„ Con Ed work to be finished and then reassess the issues when it is working as intended. 5 p'a ors s However, Mr. Altieri was asked to look how such a red light arrow would be constructed and the cost, in case the committees decided to implement that suggestion in the future. New Business-Traffic Committee 1.Memorandum to Committee from Town Administrator Altieri dated November 14, 2007 re Murray Avenue School Traffic Issues with attached summary by the Murray Avenue PTA of their concerns. A brief discussion was held on these issues, and it was decided to carry the issues over to the next meeting since no one appeared on behalf of the Murray Ave. PTA summary. 2. Correspondence from Edward Hoff dated October 31,2007. Car carriers unload cars in the bus stop at Dillon Road on the Boston Post road, causing passengers problems in hoarding. There is no other place to unload unless certain parking spots are made into a prohibited loading zone on the Post Road in the area; many dealer employees currently park on the Post Road. Lt. Cindrich will talk to the dealers about the problem, and it will be carried over to the next meeting.
