A regular meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held at 8:00 PM in the Courtroom
at the Mamaroneck Town Center, located at 740 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY, 10543.
on December 17, 2002.
Members Present:
David Lobl, Chairman
Nancy Angiullo Don Derrico
Richard Mari Camille Odierna
Others Present:
Stephen Altieri Town Administrator
Lt. John Anderson Town of Mamaroneck Police Dept
Old Business:
1. Approval of October 22, 2002 minutes.
New Business
1. Traffic Control—Rockland AvenuelMohegan Road/Avon Road.
Ed Clarke appeared before the Committee and reiterated concerns over speed on Rockland. Mr.Clarke also
reiterated concerns over truck traffic and he wishes to exclude trucks over 5 tons. Current ordinances
prohibit trucks over 10 tons. There is also a problem of pedestrians walking on the streets where there are
no sidewalks. The resident is requesting "limited site distance 15 mph" signage near Winged Foot Drive.
According to Mr.Clarke,trucks leave the Village of Mamaroneck and come up Mohegan or Avon to Rockland.
Lt. John Anderson spoke to the question of enforcement of speed by the Town Police Department throughout
the Town.
Sandy Hilliard—Asked questions regarding the speed monitoring machine.
Cornelius Shields—Expressed concerns over the speed on the street.
Jane Trenholm—Spoke to a concern over the intersection of Rockland and Avon. Concern is over the site
distance. Proposes stop signs on Rockland Avenue at Winged Foot Drive, and Stoneyside.
Cary Collins— Spoke to the issue of people crossing on Rockland Avenue near Badger Day Camp and
Winged Foot Drive.
Jim Holiver—Spoke to the issue of speed on Rockland Avenue. He would like to see a stop sign installed
on Rockland Avenue near Crest.
Rita McCloy Stefanz—Echoed concerns of the residents regarding Rockland Avenue. She also expressed
similar concerns for Avon Road, and requested the installation of a 15 mph advisory speed at site-distance
sign.
John Collins—Spoke to the issue of speed on Rockland Avenue and the problem of traffic existing from the
camp road.

Recommendations of the Committee:
1) Upgrade "No Truck"signage on Rockland Avenue.
2) Don Derrico and Richard Mari will conduct field investigation of potential locations for stop signs on
Rockland and will report back after next week.
3) Add 15 mph sign to limited site distance on Rockland Avenue.
4) On motion by Dave Lobl, and second by Nancy Angiullo, it was resolved to reduce speed on
Rockland Avenue to 25 mph.
5) Don Derrico and Richard Mari will also review and report back on truck traffic.
Place this matter on the next Traffic Committee Agenda.
2. Correspondence of Dawn Contreras.
Ms. Contreras appeared before the Committee. She expressed concern over illegal left hand turns from the
Stop & Shop onto Weaver Street. Al Grieco school crossing guards appeared before the Committee and
recommended that the signs be rearranged, with consideration of the location of the sun in the afternoon.
Recommendations:
1) Rearrange sign locations.
2) Reconstruct the median to deter left hand turns.
3) Eliminate truck entrance on Weaver Street.
3. Commuter Parking Huguenot Drive.
Mr. & Mrs. Harris appeared before the Committee. The Committee reviewed the matter with the residents
that appeared before the Committee.
The Police Department will attempt to identify the cars.
This matter is deferred to the next meeting.
Other Items:
1. Edgewood and Murray. Move back "No Parking Here to Corner" signs.
The next scheduled Traffic Committee meeting will be held on January 28,2003.
