1. Correspondence — Amy Kreisberg — Murray Avenue School PTA
Length of Walk Signal — Murray Avenue and Forest Avenue
Ms. Kreisberg appeared before the committee regarding her correspondence. Parents
at the school commented to her that they felt the walk signal at the intersection was too short.
The Town Administrator explained that the total length of time for the walk signal is the sum
of the green walk phase and the flashing don't walk phase. Therefore the phase may not be
as short as people may think it is. The matter was deferred to the next meeting at which time
the staff will provide to the committee the current traffic signal phasing times.
Ms. Kreisberg will be notified of the meeting.
2. Correspondence — Brian Lobel — Intersection of Edgewood Avenue and North
Chatsworth Avenue
Mr. Lobel has sent to the committee a letter expressing concern over the safety of
pedestrians attempting to cross North Chatsworth Avenue at Edgewood Avenue. The
committee discussed this item and determined that the intersection was not really seen as a
designated crossing for pedestrians. Therefore the committee decided not to take any further
action on this matter. The Chairman will draft a letter to Mr. Lobel regarding the committee's
decision.
3. Correspondence — Virginia Picciotto — Parking on Burton Road
Ms. Picciotto indicated in her correspondence that frequently cars park on Burton Road
and obstruct her driveway. Therefore she is requesting the establishment of a no parking zone
between the driveways of#6 and # 8 Burton road. After discussion of alternatives by the
committee the following recommendation was unanimously agreed to by the committee.
A No Parking or Standing Zone should be established from the west side of the
driveway at #6 Burton Road to the east side of the driveway at #8 Burton Road. The
committee requested that research be completed to determine if any ordinances must be
repealed to institute the new proposal.

1. Approval of Minutes — November 15, 2005.
The minutes were unanimously approved as amended.
2. Correspondence— Ruth Campanelli — Intersection of Falls Road and Cooper Lane
This matter has been on the committee's agenda for several months. The concern is the
lack of any type of traffic control device at this intersection. To date the alternatives under
consideration have the installation of a yield sign on Falls Road, a yield sign on Cooper Lane
and a stop sign on Cooper Lane. There is also the view that there is not a real problem with
traffic at the intersection. There being no consensus of the committee the matter will be
removed from further consideration at this time.
3. Parking on Cooper Lane near Sts. John and Paul Church
The concern is the unsafe condition created by cars parking on Cooper Lane near the
church parking lot. When cars are parked on the street vehicles are forced into the oncoming
traffic lanes which are particularly hazardous at the bend on Cooper Lane near the entrance
to the church parking lot. After discussion by the committee the following recommendation
was adopted by all members of the committee except Mr. Meister who abstained from the
vote.
A No Parking or Standing Zone should be established on the northeast side (house side)
of Cooper Lane between Weaver Street and Mardon Road.
The committee also requested that additional signage be installed on the southwest
side of Cooper Lane to insure that residents understand that parking is already prohibited on
the southwest side of the street.
4. Correspondence — Intersection of Boulder Brae and Fenimore Road
The correspondence from Mr. Bloch of Boulder Brae to the Town Supervisor was
referred to the committee for re-consideration. The resident is concerned that there is
insufficient visibility for cars exiting Boulder Brae onto Fenimore Road. Prior review of this
matter by the committee resulted in a recommendation to cut back brush and weeds on the
stone cliff adjacent to Boulder Brae. The weeds were cutback. There is insufficient traffic to
install a traffic signal as recommended by Mr. Bloch. Also, a prior recommendation to install a
mirror was rejected due to maintenance concerns.
As a result the Town will experiment with the installation of a rumble strip in the
vicinity of the existing sign on Fenimore Road that notifies motorists of the limited sight access
of Boulder Brae. The rumble strip is to bring more attention to the sign. The rumble strips will
be installed in the spring.
Next Meeting: Tuesday January 10, 2006
