HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008_04_15 Traffic Committee Minutes The Town of Mamaroneck TOWN OF MAMARONECK TRAFFIC COMMITTEE t•7 : www.fownofMamaroneck.org MEETING MINUTES — April 15, 2008 A regular meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Traffic Committee was held on April 15, 2008, in the Courtroom at The Mamaroneck Town Center located at 740 W. Boston Post Rd. Mamaroneck, NY. Members Present: Doris Shaw Block Michael Harrington Camile Odierna Donald Sutherland Nancy Angiulo Also Present David Fishman, Town Board Liaison Stephen V. Altieri, Town Administrator Lt. Michael Cindrich. Members Absent Kathy DeVore Old Business: Approval of Minutes. New Business: 1. Correspondence Kari Koppinen Requesting a Handicapped Space—Larchmont Acres—No practical way to put handicapped space on Richbell since there are no parking restrictions on the street. Recommendation is that this resident contract Co-op Board to create a Handicapped parking space in the apartment driveway circles. 2. Correspondence Ed Hoff— Parking of Car Carriers on Boston Post Road near Dillon Road—The problem appears to be that the car carriers serving the auto dealerships in this area create parking problems and potential safety issues on Boston Post Road. Lt. Mike Cindrich suggested that this matter be deferred to the May meeting. The Police Department will continue to monitor and work with dealerships on a solution to the problem. Write to Ed Hoff to advise what we are doing. 3. Correspondence- Murray Avenue PTA. Parking on Colonial Avenue between Murray and Daymon Terrace and Parking on Forest Avenue at the corner of Sheldrake Avenue—Because there was not a quorum at the last Traffic Committee meeting, the Town Board asked that the Committee again consider these proposals. Parking on the north side of Colonial Avenue would be prohibited during the dropoff(7:30am-9:00am) and pickup times (2:00pm —3:30pm) Monday through Friday. On Forest Avenue the proposal is to establish a no parking here to corner zone on the west side of Forest Avenue at Sheldrake Avenue. After discussion the Committee re-confirmed its recommendation of these two proposals to the Town Board. 4. Correspondence—No Left Turn Weaver Street onto Penqilly Drive—The Traffic Committee decided to take no action on this item at this time. 5. Correspondence — Joseph Guzzetta — Traffic on Ferndale Place — Mr. Guzzetta is concerned about the number of cars no using Ferndale place to access the emergency road leading to Central School. Lt. Cindrich met with Mr. Guzzetta to determine if the school district was condoning the use of the emergency access way. Lt. Cindrich asked that this matter be deferred to the May meeting. 6. Items not on the agenda — a. The Town Administrator updated the Committee on the Town's plans for establishing a temporary parking lot in Memorial Park during the construction of the new parking deck on Myrtle Boulevard. b. There was a brief discussion of the Myrtle Boulevard/North Chatsworth Avenue intersection and the installation of an advanced walk phase.
