Michael Cindrich Camille Odierna Nancy Seligson, Town Board Liaison Nancy Angiulo Michael Harrington William Zelenka OLD BUSINESS Forest Avenue—Discussion of Alternative of Speed Platform in response to complaints of speeding vehicles, trucks and congestion Committee members went to see the permanent type speed platforms installed in New Rochelle at the intersection of Bailey Place and Parcot Avenue near the Middle School. The consensus was that trying a movable rubber speed platform on Forest Avenue near the intersection of Forest Place on an experimental basis seems like a good idea, although it is likely that other streets will then be asking for the same thing. The Committee needs certain additional information prior to making a decision: 1. Is there any insurance cost or problem because of the risk of damage to cars or persons tripping or other risks? 2. What is the cost of a movable rubber platform? 3. Are there any rules or regulations regarding the size of the platform, the distance from the sides of the street, or other constraints because of drainage or other problems or issues? 4. Can such a platform be moved from one street to another? Lt. Cindrich referred the Committee to the following website for a discussion of speed platforms as a traffic calming measure: www.ite.org/traffic/table/asp. Next Meeting: Wednesday, March 9, 2011, 8 PM
