Present were the following:
Councilman Lee H. Bloom
Councilman Stewart J. McMillan
Councilman Thomas R. Amlicke
Councilwoman Caroline Silverstone
Supervisor Leo- Goldsmith, Jr. was not present at this meeting
due to illness.
Town Clerk, Dorothy S. Miller was also in attendance.
The meeting was called to order at 8:15 P.M. by Councilman Bloom
who noted the meeting was being held pursuant to notice and
stated that the purpose was to give consideration to appointing
a Deputy Supervisor to act in the absence of the Supervisor who
is presently ill. Councilman Bloom stated that the position
was created in 1974 while Christine Helwig was Supervisor and
was held for that year by Joseph Vandernoot, but further noted
that the position has remained vacant in recent years. Councilman
III Bloom went on to say that various important documents now need
to be signed. Thereupon, on motion by Councilman McMillan,
seconded by Councilman Amlicke, the following resolution was
adopted by majority vote with Councilman Bloom abstaining from
the vote:
RESOLVED, that due to the illness of
Supervisor Leo Goldsmith, Jr. and his
inability to act at the present time,
this Board hereby authorizes that Council-

be and he hereby is appointed Deputy
Supervisor of the Town of Mamaroneck, to

any required documents;
and it is further

Suzanne Carpenter, President of the Larchmont League of
Women Voters asked Mr. Bloom how he will manage these extra
duties with his business commitments. Councilman Bloom
answered that following his discussion with Mrs. Goldsmith
about the Supervisor's present condition, he had every reason
to believe Mr. Goldsmith is on the road to recovery and that
with the help of each member of the Board, the business affairs
of the Town will be properly carried on until the Supervisor's
return.
Thereafter, following the administration of the oath of office
to Mr. Bloom by the Town Clerk, on motion duly made and seconded,
the meeting was declared adjourned at 8:27 P.M.
