OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK, HELD DECEMBER 7, 1959,
AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS, 11 EDGEWOOD AVENUE, TOWN
OF MAMARONECK.
CALL TO ORDER
The Chairman called the meeting to order at 8:30 p. m.
PRESENT: Mr. Fred L. Maggini, Chairman
Mr. G. Norman Blair
Mr. Lee Bloom
ABSENT: Mr. Henry E. Mullick
Mr. Joseph Rigano
ALSO PRESENT: Maurice Friedlander, Town Engineer and
Building Inspector
Councilman Peter Kane
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the meeting of November 2, 1959, were
approved as presented.
DISCUSSION GROUP
In answer to the letter of invitation sent out by the Planning
Board to the Villages and Commissions, and the Board
of Education, the following persons were present:

Mr. Maggini, chairman, opened the meeting by stating that
he had long felt that a meeting such as this would be most
informative and interesting and he would like to turn the
meeting over to general discussion.
Considerable discussion followed touching on signs, par-
ticularly on the Post Road, parking facilities, need for
new educational plants, the pros and cons of apartment
building versus private homes, etc. A great deal of
time was spent on the subject of recreation facilities.
It was pointed out that a study is to be made by the
County of land suitable for development as recreation
areas-this study, to begin in January, should be
completed in six months.
Attention was also given to the Hommocks Area and Flint
Park as to their suitability for recreation

It was the concensus of the meeting that the planning boards
of the three municipalities, with the advice and participation
where appropriate of representatives of other municipal
boards and commission and of the school board, should
jointly plan and recommend joint action to the legislative
bodies of the three municipalities in relation to their
common problems.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the
meeting it was adjourned at 10:00 p. m.
