HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955_10_03 Planning Board Minutes MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE PLANNING BOARD OF THE TOWN OF w- MAMARONECK, HELD OCTOBER 3, 1955, IN THE COUNCIL ROOM OF THE WEAVER STREET FIRE HOUSE, TOWN OF MAMARONECK. PRESENT: Mr. Maggini, Acting Chairman Mr. Blair Mr. Rigano Mr. Schuler Mr. Burke ABSENT: Mr. Wullschleger Presence was also noted of Mr. Thomas J. McEvoy, Building Inspector, Mr. Brush, Councilman, and Mrs . Barnes , Secretary to the Planning Board. Mrs . Barnes reported to the Board that it had been brought to her attention that Colonel Shea had decided to resign from the Planning Board at the expiration of his term, which had been in September of this year. Mr . Maggini called the meeting to order at 8:30 P. M. , and on motion duly made and seconded, the minutes of the previous meeting, held August 1, 1955, were approved as presented . I Mr. William A. Glaser, Cabilane Road , Mamaroneck, and Mr. Joseph W. Gleicher, 27 Cushman Road, Scarsdale, appeared and presented a pre- ", ; liminary Subdivision Map for Sections 2 and 3, Glen Rock Estates, dated IApril 23, 1954, made by Ralph Cronquist, and explained certain correc- tions which are to be made in the map. The Board decided to take the map under consideration and decided to inspect the property. There was next presented to the Board, a preliminary Map of Saxon Park Estates, Town of Mamaroneck, Westchester County, N. Y. , County Sheet 45, Block 3964, dated September 21, 1955, made by A. J. Y" I ,-,.7 Next presented to the Board was a preliminary Map of Lakewood, Town of Mamaroneck, Westchester County, N. Y. , County Block 3944, County ,,./3S7 Sheet 35 & 36, completed July 26, 1954, by A. J. Foote, Civil Engineer, L(Fred Maloof owner). The Board will consider this and visit the property. The Board then gave some study to the budget for 1956 and on motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously RESOLVED that G. Norman Blair and Joseph J. Rigano be and they hereby are appointed a committee of two to confer with A. J. Foote with a view to retaining him to draw the official map of the Town of Mamaroneck for a fee not to exceed the amount appropriated in the budget . -30- Councilman Brush said he would like the minutes of this meeting to show �. � that he had attended here and after the regular business of the meeting, he had stated that it was the request of one of the members of the Town Council that one or more members of the Planning Board should attend the next meeting of the Town Board in order to answer certain questions to be put to them by the members of the Town Council . After some discussion, on motion by Mr. Burke, seconded by Mr. Blair, it was unanimously RESOLVED that an invitation is hereby extended to any and all of the members of the Town Council to attend any regular meeting, or if their convenience will be satisfied, a special meeting, for the purpose of posing any or all questions desired to be asked by the Town Council and answered by the Planning Board. There was some further discussion of the 1956 Budget and with respect to the same, upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously RESOLVED that Mr. Maggini he appointed a committee of one to review the advisability of employing a qualified expert on Town planning and report back to this Board as quickly as possible . Mr. Schuler said he would like to have the Planning Board go over the Zoning Ordinance with a view toward some revision. This will be done after a visit or conference with the two Village Planning Boards, - Mamaroneck and Larchmont, - with, perhaps, some expert help or advice. Mr. Schuler also suggested that the Planning Board have, in addition to its regular monthly meeting, an executive meeting on the third Monday of each month. Mr. Schuler said he would like to see open spaces (buffer zones) reserved throughout or created throughout the Town. Councilman Brush said the Garden Club of Larchmont is anxious to see the Town acquire land owned by the County, around the "Ridge" which could be made into a bird sanctuary. Mr. Burke said he would like to see something constructive done about the parking situation. Mr . Brush explained what is planned by the Town Board . There being no further business to come before the meeting, it adjourned at 10:05 P. M. I) Secretary -31- �l�
