CALL TO ORDER The Chairman called the meeting to order at 8:20 P.M. ROLL CALL Present: Mr. Fred L. Maggini, Chairman Mr. Joseph Rigano Mr. G. Norman Blair Mr. Edward J. Cibulay Absent: Mr. Howard W. Hand, Jr. Also present: Mr. William P. Widulski, Town Engineer PROPOSED NEW POLICE STATION AND COURT Mr. Robert Crozier, the Architect, presented the Board with a preliminary plan for the proposed new Police Station and Court on Weaver Street and Pal- mer Avenue. The application is for a Special Permit and had been referred to the Planning Board for their recommendations. The Architect pointed out that the entrance on Weaver Street would be used by the police coming and going to work and the entrance on Palmer Avenue would be used by the general public which would alleviate some of the contemplated traffic on Weaver Street which has the narrower and shorter sight distance. The Chairman stated that he was gratified to see on the plan that the building was set back but was concerned about the loss of the turn around found on early schematics. Mr. Crozier pointed out that they still intended to provide a turn around on the final plans. The Architect discussed the possibility of the traf- fic lights being controlled in an emergency from the police desk. The problem of drainage was raised by the Chairman. It was pointed outthat presently the surface drainage is going down to the railroad tracks and eventually finds its way to the ground surface on Nancy Lane. The Board requested that Mr. Crozier provide underground drainage directing all the water to the system under Palmer Avenue. The Board, also, recommended that a planted buffer strip be provided between the present Town property and the adjacent residential area. 77 After further discussion the Board decided that the preliminary plan was acceptable and would recommend the Town Board grant a Special Permit for the Pro- posed Police Station and Court.
